Public Statement from the Whistleblower  On the Medisafe Scandal, Professional Misconduct, and Retaliation Al Health Studio released a detailed public statement confirming what I had independently exposed weeks earlier: that the award-winning Medisafe project, promoted as a high school student's innovation, was in fact developed by professional engineers under contract, paid by Dr. Roberta Pang of HKU, also the mother of the involved student Clarisse Poon. This statement reveals that: - Dr. Pang paid to have the app developed, never disclosed this in her daughter’s competition submissions. - When the truth emerged, Dr. Pang attempted to pressure AI Health Studio to revise their public statement and conceal their involvement. - Despite clear documentation, the competition organizers chose to close the case, citing false timelines, and requested the company to “maintain consistency” with their messaging. 1. Professional Misconduct and Abuse of Privilege Dr. Roberta Pang, a professor at HKUMed – The University of Hong Kong, paid a professional AI company to develop an app for her daughter, who later submitted it to multiple student competitions, without disclosing any external help. After the truth emerged, Dr. Pang attempted to pressure AI Health Studio to revise their statements and conceal their role. This is not only a conflict of interest, it is a betrayal of the ethical standards expected of any academic, especially one in a position of authority. How many more “success stories” are quietly manufactured behind closed doors? 2. Institutional Failure and Silence HKAGE and other competition organizers received detailed evidence from AI Health Studio. Yet they closed the investigation, falsely citing a timeline that does not match the development records and ignored follow-up questions. This is not a procedural oversight, it is systemic protection of privilege, at the cost of fairness and truth. Students who worked hard, in good faith, now see that integrity loses when influence wins. 3. Retaliation: Silencing the Whistleblower After I blew the whistle, Google Developer Group Hong Kong, where I served as an organizer, faced pressure from sponsors to cut ties. Rather than let my presence harm the community, I chose to step down from my role as Organizer. Let me be clear: I received no financial gain, no personal benefit from speaking out. Instead, I have faced professional consequences, social pressure, and institutional silence. This is the real cost of truth-telling, and it’s precisely why so many stay silent. I call on Dr. Pang and her daughter to respond publicly, truthfully, and directly. I call on HKAGE and all competition bodies to reopen the investigation transparently with independent oversight. This is not just about one student or one award. It’s about whether Hong Kong’s academic future will be built on merit or manipulation. Speaking out was never easy. But silence would have been far worse. I will not back down.

Since the Medisafe controversy came to light, Dr. Roberta Pang’s professional profile appears to have been removed from the HKU Faculty of Medicine website. As of today, her staff page is no longer accessible through the university’s public directory. However, her name remains visible in HKU’s official research repository, confirming her past academic involvement. HKU Scholars Hub: Dr. Pang’s research grant record (https://repository.hku.hk/cris/project/hkugrant100512) This quiet removal of public-facing records raises serious concerns. In the midst of a controversy involving academic integrity, the deletion of institutional affiliation, without explanation, undermines transparency and suggests a lack of accountability. If Dr. Pang remains employed by HKU, the university owes the public a clear statement. If she has resigned or been reassigned, the public deserves to know whether this was voluntary, or the result of internal disciplinary action.

🙌 A heartfelt thank you to your courage, integrity, and sacrifice as well as the AI Health Studio. Speaking truth to power is never easy, especially when it comes at a personal cost. Your voice matters—and so does the integrity of our academic and innovation communities.

It takes courage to speak out against injustice and perseverance to deal with the pressure. The Hong Kong’s academia is lucky that you have both!

Well said. And I applaud you for noticing that the sophistication of this app does not make sense for a 16 year old student. You are courageous and brave to speak up against authorities, in honor of academic integrity.
