STRANGER OMORI REAL NOT FAKE
I feel this urge to role play heromari, anyone with me?
Hero turns around at the voice, "Hm?" He smiles at the girl sitting next to him while Kel and the others are playing softball, well, attempting to play it, "What is it Mari?"
"KEL STOP THROWING THE BALL THAT WAY!" Aubrey's voice booms in fields.
"UGH IM TRYING! ITS WINDY OKAY!?" Kel shouts back.
"Hero can i tell you something?"
He tilted his head to the side, which reminded Mari of a golden retriever in a strange way. Hero was very dog-like on occasion.
“Sure? Did something happen?”
Over analyzing everything as always. In the background Aubrey screamed at Kel for hitting Basil over the head with the bat somehow, but he appeared fine.
“Have you ever thought about your future?”
Hero shuffles in his seat, "Future huh.." he scratches the back of his neck, "i've uh.. Never actually considered it so far.."
He chuckles wryly, "i mean, i should be planning already, my future, but.."
Hero blinks at her, "Huh?"
"You were planning about your future." behind him, Aubrey and Kel are having a screaming match, He should be intervening by now, but Mari's strange response stops him from doing so.
"A future with me and you, happily married couple," Mari continues. He could hear Basil mediating, making Kel and Aubrey make up, one minute they are fighting and the next playing together again.
"But that can't happen now that i'm gone right?"
"OH MY GOD THE BALL! AUBREY!!"
Mari giggles, "Well its such a shame really." as if nothing is wrong with what she just said.
"You didn't protect me from myself, you couldn't."
"Mari I-"
"SOMEONE! HERO! HELP!-"
Hero was frozen in place. Who was he? where was he? What was going on? She was right in front of him wasn't she? Mari wasn't- gone?
No. Of course not.
She giggled, "Oh Hero, you're always so easy to tease you know that?"
"BRO? - SOMEONE- BASIL-"
"I wanted to save you - I would have done anything please-"
Sirens got louder and louder, Hero's vision began to blur.
"please just- stay-"
Hero clutches Mari hands in desperation, "I- i can't-..No- Mari-"
"Its not too late you know?" Mari says, her voice strangely monotone.
"HERO!! AUBREY THREW THE BALL TOO FAR AND NOW IT'S-" Aubrey punches Kel in from the back of the head "HEY!"
“Hero.” Aubrey crossed her arms. “Mari isn’t there. She’s dead.”
“b-bro?” Kel had stopped and stared at him.
Hero blinked and she was gone. Like she never was there to begin with, what was going on again? He couldn’t remember where he was.
“H-Hero… w-we all Miss her! Haha..” Basil’s pathetic attempt to brighten the mood did nothing as everyone stared in uncomfortable silence.
Sunny appeared next to Kel, seemingly unsurprised.
“hah. Sorry. I must have fallen asleep or something!”
Mari smiled at him, she couldn’t wait to have him back. Too bad the others had interfered, he had really seen her this time.
Hero turn around at the voice, "Hm?" He tries to smile at the boy sitting next to him, but it seems like Sunny can tell he is forcing it. He clears his throat, "What is Sunny?"
"Ugh where is it now.. I swore i threw it this way.." Aubrey mumbles while watching Kel dig a hole in the ground, "What- KEL! What are you doing?!"
"What? Im finding the ball!"
"WHY WOULD THE BALL BE IN THE GROUND?!"
"What? You might have thrown it so hard the ball dig itself into a hole"
"BUT WOULD IT-" Aubrey pauses, "Huh?"
Aubrey crouches down next to, "Hey that makes sense... Hey, dig harder."
"Hero can i ask you something?"
Now it feels like dejavu, "Yeah, what is Sunny?" in the corner of his eyes he could Basil sighing in idly as he watches both Aubrey and Kel attempting to dig up the earth to find the baseball, he should really stop them, but for some reason, "Anything troubling you right now?"
Hero squinted. Yikes. He did not want to open that can of worms, not now not ever.
“don’t worry about it sunny, I was just.. dreaming.”
Kel and Aubrey were starting to make a mess, plus wasn’t this public property? It was probably illegal. Oh well, Aubrey at least should be used to illegal things.
Sunny stares at him, "Can you see it Hero?" He repeats.
Hero wants to turn around and run away right now, but the intensity of Sunny's gaze stops him from doing so.
Sunny leans in further, "She's not real Hero, She's not-" "Real, I'm real"
Then he saw, the most horrifying thing he's seen in his life, he saw Sunny's face morph and twist into a face that he thought he'd never get to see again, "I'm real Hero" Mari, or a vision of Mari, stares back at him, smiling.
He let out a start, pushing himself backwards, and blinking rapidly. It quickly disappeared, leaving a concerned Sunny.
“Er- right- she’s not real-“
“anyways, it’s getting late isn’t it?” Hero bolted up, looking at the others. Kel and Aubrey had created a hole the size of a small grave and were laying next to it panting while Basil fretted over them
“those two look tired. Lets go home-“
Mari smiled happily, holding her basket in front of him.
“home? I’m right here my dear, aren’t I the home you always wanted?”
"Hero.." 'it' waltzes beside him when he walks along the road.
"Hero don't ignore me.." 'it' says.
Sunny says it's not real, it's not her, of course it's not her, the real one died years ago.
'It' gasps, "That's rude Hero!" The fake Mari, no it doesnt even deserves a name, 'it' pouts, and her- it's cheeks puff up like hers did, the baby still etched youthfully onto her face. He never got to see Mari all grown up.
