"Savor the Bounty of Autumn: Experience the New Generation of Kinki!"
In September, even amidst the lingering summer heat, a gentle breeze or the sound of insects hints at the coming of autumn. Across Japan, fields enter the harvest season, and wineries become more vibrant than at any other time of year.
This month, we bring you two wines crafted by passionate young winemakers from the Kinki region, an area renowned for its rich culinary culture.
The first bottle is "Soif Blanc 2023" from Hitomi Winery, a pioneer of nigori wine in Shiga. Its gentle fruitiness and umami quietly soothe away the fatigue of summer.
The second bottle is "Shine Muscat 2024" from Kitani Winery, a rising star in Nara.
Enjoy this innovative wine made from juicy Shine Muscat grapes. The moment you pour it into your glass, you'll be enveloped by its vibrant, fresh aroma.

Shiga Prefecture / Hitomi Winery
Soif Blanc+ 2023
Alongside a toasty aroma reminiscent of popcorn, you'll also notice hints of tropical fruit. A touch of minty freshness appears, allowing you to enjoy the grape's natural, rich fragrance. There is a fleeting reductive nuance, but it quickly dissipates.
On the palate, it has a crisp texture and a soft, approachable flavor. The wine shows good ripeness and well-balanced acidity, with a pleasantly lingering finish.
We recommend enjoying it slightly chilled in a piccolo glass.
Nara Prefecture/Kitani Winery
Shine Muscat 2024
This wine is characterized by the pure, fresh aroma of Shine Muscat. Over time, you may also notice a green, skin-like nuance emerging.
On the palate, it offers a refreshing acidity reminiscent of mint and kabosu, a Japanese citrus, making it perfect for summer in Japan. It's off-dry (slightly sweet), with just the right balance of acidity and alcohol, and a long, enjoyable finish.
For pairings, it goes excellently with slightly sweet ethnic dishes, Chinese cuisine, or sweet-and-savory Japanese dishes.
