Disney did f**k up on both the avengers finale when they didn't release it on the 100gb disc and just released it on 66gb disc instead due to which quality of video suffers and also they had just hdr, no hdr10 or Dolby vision which was weird. But they said that it is a time taking process and not cost effective to copy on this huge disc. But this time with avatar 2, fans are in luck.

On a general 4k disc out of that 66gb some 5-10 gb space is left for audio and rest of remaining space suggests an average bit rate of around 40-45 for this movie. But official sources suggests average bit rate of 60.5 for this movie release(which means around 87gb of space used and rest 10-15gb left for audio) that means there will a 100gb disc used for this release maybe on later date. So relax

What's the reason behind using two different sources for the 720 and 1080? Shouldn't those 1080p remuxes ideally be the same except for audio formats?

Given the needs for this particular movie, makes one wonder why they didn't squeeze the most out of every bit available on the disc. I read in an article that the video bitrate fluctuates wildly from 70 to 20 Mbps. So the unused 18GB could've been useful for some incremental improvements to those 20 Mbps scenes..
