- As if losing half of our blood wasn't bad enough, there's something else coming? Sure enough, an ominous black fog began to coalesce at the edge of the room, slowly forming into the shape of a humanoid's upper half. Pieces of the armored guardians we'd fought previously were swept up by an invisible wind to slot onto its "shoulders" and "head" as the thing came fully to life. The thing, whatever it was roared, a sound that reverberated through the room and my skull.
- "Shit, alright, let's do this folks," I growled, forcing myself into motion and feeling very lightheaded. Not enough to bring me down, not nearly enough. Doesn't seem to have affected Vika much either, given she was the first to fire at the creature. The beam she fired splashed off of a barrier that it brought up, before returning fire with a similar beam. I took the chance to zip behind it (an action that did my head no favors), project a blade from my arm, and swing for its neck. So imagine my surprise when it projected a blade of its own to block with.
- "The fuck?!" I grunted, before zipping back to the others before it could retaliate. Again, my head is NOT fond of doing that right now. I heard a snap from behind me before and explosion went off, well wide of the creature. Mars let out a groan before flopping to the floor, evidently having been hit hard by the blood loss.
- The thing took the opportunity to fire a beam of light in our direction, which Magnus deflected with a grunt. Seems he'd fared pretty well.
- "This creature is... a vanguard of fate? A punishment for our interference...?" Magnus hissed, deflecting another attack from the fate thing. "But why only us? I saw no such thing for any of the others..."
- "Perhaps that voice is to blame," Phi suggested. He and Bloodriver seem to be recovering well. Candle was in much the same condition as Mars - that being, not great. "It gave us more than the maximum the Weaver was meant to allow."
- "Perhaps-" Magnus's reply was cut off as the fate creature zipped into melee range, crackling with electricity and with blades projected. He dodge a few of its attacks before halting it with his psionic powers, long enough for Bloodriver to blast it with a splash of blood, while a bolt of mud hit it from another direction.
- "Gotta say this fella's awful rude, ain't he?" Landslide huffed. The mud he'd hit it with hardened swiftly into stone, holding the fate creature still long enough for Magnus to slam it with his power. "Oh hey, didn't know I could do that- yipe!" he shouted as the fate creature snapped its fingers, hitting him with an explosion.
- "This thing is using our powers!" Vika called out, projecting a shield over Landslide to protect him from the thing's followup attack, then sending a barrage of arcane bolts at it. It deflected them with a wave of its hand, then launched at her flaming fist first.
- "Then the flaming fist is Dimetrodon... shit, did that hit everyone topside too?" I growled. "If it has all of our powers, this thing's going to be horribly dangerous at close range!"
- Vika blocked its charge with her staff and turned it aside as it projected a blade at her face, barely avoiding getting her face hacked off, then kicked it aside, getting a shock in return. She then nailed it with a full power arcane blast at point blank, which Magnus and Phi followed up on with a psionic burst and a flame jutsu respectively.
