Quoted from ChuckRock:

How much longer before this becomes the Chinese Democracy of pinball machines?

Probably….For reference the studio behind Cuphead announced the expansion for the game back in June 2018, and it didn’t get released until June 2022…

This studio is known for holding things back if they aren’t ready.

At this point it probably makes the most sense to hold the game back until Expo in October, but who knows.

Start button won't register (switch is good). LOV. Ideas?

Follow the wires from the switch along to the board they plug onto. Be sure it's plugged in. Then check continuity of each wire.

I spent like 40 minutes before league trying to find the damn board. There are only like 50 under the game.

Service mode, Switch test. When you press the start button switch, switch turns green in the test menu? This is how you determined switch is good?

Ok, if switch tests good then check if game is on free play in service menu. Maybe it’s on credit play and there are 0 credits? Did someone install a bill accepter and maybe the settings are wrong? Put it in free play and try to start a game?

Need more info

It does not work in the test mode. I used a meter to determine the switch is good. Game showing 30 credits.

Anyone able to tell me where the start button plugs in at? Like where is the board in the game?

#7507 7 days ago

The manual shows the switch plugs into cabinet switch board PCB-0 J8. I'm going to assume this board is behind the big metal box on the left side of the cabinet since I traced the wires to it but didn't pull the box cover off.

Dude. Has anyone actually tried calling support? My buddy called for help, guy was like "I don't really know much about these games." WTF?!

At least he was able to get a hold of somebody, that's getting further than a lot of complaints I've heard recently.

I got an instant reply on e-mail a few weekends ago on the tank target brackets, two followups for a couple parts I wanted to replace and it's been crickets.

Have you / are you also posting these questions in the LOV owner's thread - I'd think you're more likely to get answers there but of course luvthatapex2 has intimate knowledge of the game too.

Seems nothing new was revealed at Comic Con at all regarding Cuphead. Guess the waiting game continues…

And their game values continue to plummet.

In fairness, all game values are downward trending. That said, yeah, confidence in buying an API game seems more hesitant.

I bet they will announce their next game when Stern, Spooky and JJP announce theirs

Interesting timing decision if that’s what they do … are they trying to sell their games or hide their games?

Hey group, recently bought a NIB LOV (some great responses from AP some WTF moments too. I am on the current release. I every once in a while experience what I can only find in the hot wheels issues where the legs need a restart to "reset". however my bigger question is when you are in a mode say Banshee after I shoot a few light yellow arrows the screen says shoot the light yellow arrows and there are none lit up. this is the same for all of them. Am I the only one???no that I am getting better its frustrating I have no idea where my shot it supposed too go, So I never finish one. I have videos of it maybe that will explain it better?

#7518 2 days ago

Can you post this in the LOV owners group? I'd be happy to help. Please pm me.

Here is the owners group thread. Just trying to keep everything LOV there....

Is this based on actual insider information or are you just spit balling, can’t tell.

Last I heard the game was put on “hold for some review”. I don’t even know what that means, but I’m going to assume we could see it at Expo or never at this point. It just doesn’t sound good…

No, a review to determine who in the heck is going to buy a game from a company that treated its staff poorly, fired most of its talent, issued a game with half-baked software and lots of glitches, provides (at best) mediocre service to customers and has one foot in the grave. I'm guessing that's a very small market.

It’s just me guessing. You can’t make money if you don’t release games I can’t imagine how they are paying everyone at this point

I think that was part of the problem - some didn’t get paid what they were due

I could not in a million years spend $$$ with the track record of this company the past fews years. Ballsy for sure.

I was looking forward to a potential purchase of Cuphead as I am a major fan of the game and show. The piss poor customer service has turned me off of a NIB purchase. I'll grab one for $3500 down the line.

Grab what down the line at this point? Many assume it’s still coming….

Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Some further clarity. The game is still being worked on and will be ready TBD. The rumblings right now are that the owner of the Cuphead IP wants the code complete for launch, none of this .85 nonsense.

They want a 1.0 game that’s complete.

This is pretty unheard of now a days in pinball, but given APs current trajectory this might actually be a smart choice. It’s hard to say what the service update outlook is going to look like even if and when the game is released.

It'll be ironic if they release a game with 100% code before they fully fix the code for GTF.

#7532 12 hours ago

Cuphead can be 1.0 code and still not done. Its a designator only that has come to mean all inserts do something, all modes are complete and there is a wizard mode or 2. That's all possible. It can release as 1.0 and get several updates as new options are considered, logic adjusted, rules revised. AP uses a date not release number to show the progress of the code, so they will probably continue this practice.

Other IP owners can't get that from bigger pinball places? Do they not want to deal with approving updates all the time? Do they really want to delay an game to give end users / players something that will not crash all the time?

Does the IP owner want multi player games to work right?

AP games in the past have had code issues that are not just missing modes but crashes / bugs with basic parts of game play / virtual lock mode that mess up modes from working right / etc.

#7534 11 hours ago

If that really is the case, another way to look at it is the Cuphead people know AP is not long for this world and future code updates aren't guaranteed.
