It is venomous gerrymandering meant to rig the game, silence millions, and convert democracy into a Trump-flavored autocracy.
Tear apart his excuse-making. Patronis claims that Florida’s Fair Districts amendment, voter-approved to ban this kind of rigging, is “unconstitutional” because it supposedly violates free speech and states’ rights. Since when is voter suppression a protected expression? This is the same twisted rhetoric Republicans use across the country to gut every safeguard for electoral integrity. They are not chasing fairness. They are chasing permanent dominance. Yet Patronis, fresh off his own win in a district he barely knows, says that wasn’t enough. He praises Texas Republicans’ new mid-decade scheme, cheered on by Trump, to secure five more GOP strongholds and urges Florida to “do it 10X better.” DeSantis floated that plan on July 24. Patronis joined in days later. This is not coincidence. It is a coordinated Republican campaign to fortify minority rule and justify it with shallow talk of malapportioned growth.
The system is not broken. It is captured. Courts are stacked with partisan loyalists who bless this fraud. Legislatures are controlled by billionaires. Watchdog agencies are silenced or defanged. Democrats propose independent panels, data-driven maps, and permanent bans on mid-cycle tampering. Republicans respond with lawsuits, obstruction, and nonstop lies. They scream about freedom, but it is never freedom for voters. It is freedom for them to defraud, to dominate, and to erase the public’s voice while clinging to power like addicts.
