Please find below information on how people in the United Kingdom (“UK”) may submit requests to Reddit relating to the UK’s Online Safety Act (“UK OSA”), as well as other information related to the UK OSA.
UK Illegal or Restricted Content Reporting
The UK OSA requires online platforms to provide a method for people to report content that is potentially illegal and/or restricted for minors in the UK.
If you are an individual claiming legal rights in the UK, please use this form to report content on Reddit that you believe is illegal and/or restricted for minors in the UK. Make sure to attach any supporting documentation to your report before clicking submit. Note that alleged copyright and trademark infringement should be reported through this form instead.
Reddit may remove or restrict access to content determined to violate the law(s) of the UK specified in your report. Please note, most issues on Reddit can be expeditiously resolved by submitting a report for review under the Reddit Rules. If you wish to report a potential sitewide rule violation rather than submitting a UK illegal and/or restricted content report, we encourage you to use the report button next to the content you’d like to report (if you have a Reddit account) or you can file a report through our Help Center (if you do not have a Reddit account).
If you believe Reddit has suspended or banned your account or removed or restricted access to your content in a manner that is in breach of the Reddit User Agreement, you may have a right to bring a legal action for breach of contract.
Restricted Content for Minor Users
The following categories of content have been identified as content that should be restricted for UK users under 18:
- Sexually explicit content.
- Content which encourages, promotes or provides instructions for:
- suicide,
- deliberate self-injury, or
- disordered eating or behaviors associated with an eating disorder.
- Content which is abusive or incites hatred against people by targeting any of the following characteristics: race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or gender reassignment.
- Bullying content.
- Violent content which:
- encourages, promotes or provides instructions for an act of serious violence against a person, or
- depicts real or realistic serious violence against a person, an animal, or a fictional creature, including the graphic depiction of a serious injury.
- Content which encourages, promotes, or provides instructions for a challenge or stunt highly likely to result in serious injury to the person who does it or to someone else.
- Content which encourages a person to ingest, inject, inhale, or self-administer a physically harmful substance, or a substance in physically harmful quantity.
- Content that shames or otherwise stigmatises body types or physical features.
- Content that promotes or romanticizes depression, hopelessness and despair.
