A delegation from the Department of Commerce, Yunnan province of China visited BCCCI Office: A new horizon unfolds for exports to China

A nine-member delegation led by Ms Cun Min, Deputy Director General of the Department of Commerce, Yunnan province of China visited Bangladesh China Chamber of Commers & Industry (BCCCI) office on 18 May, 2024. The leader of the delegation extended invitation to the potential exhibitors from Bangladesh to showcase the key export items in the upcoming 8th China-South Asia Export & Import Fair’24 (widely known as Kunming Fair) to be held in Kunming July 23-28, 2024. The Chinese delegation sought the cooperation from BCCCI in facilitating the Bangladeshi exporters for attending the Kunming Expo’24 and showcase their products to one of the thriving hubs of Chinese market. The Kunming Fair is an international Expo co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of China, and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, displaying in 15 pavilions dedicated for various sectors of mutual trade cooperation in terms of both exports and imports.

Mr Al Mamun Mridha while welcoming the visiting Chinese delegation greeted them for providing scope to showcase export items in the exhibition and urged upon the concerned authorities of China to extend necessary cooperation to BCCCI in expediting visa procedures of the participants, dispatching their exhibits and provide interpreter services at the Expo. BCCCI was also represented by Honorable Directors of BCCCI including Sr, Vice President Brig. Gen. (Retd) Sultan Uddin Iqbal (Bir Pratik), Director Ms Meherunnesa Islam, Director Hauroon Ur Rashid and Office Secretary Md. Abu Taher.

In her speech, owing from experience of such international Fairs abroad,  underscored the acute need for providing the Bangladesh exhibitors with all necessary logistic support and deferring the last date for registration of participants from Bangladesh due to the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha recess.

The Chinese delegation also included Ms Ma Lixin, Director, Exhibition Division, Ms Sina Quzong, Deputy Director, Intl. Coop. Division of the Foreign Office of Yunnan Government, Mr Duan Zhahui, Consultant, CCPIT Yunnan Sub-Council, Mr Dawa Peichu of Exhibition Division, Mr Wang Zihong of Finance & Statistics Division of Yunnan government and Mr He Hang, Executive Director of China’s ECSAE Trading Company.

The meeting focused on exploring business linkage between Bangladesh and Yunnan Province of China and to facilitate showcasing Bangladeshi export products at the 8th Kunming Fair by business community of Bangladesh having stakes, interests and enterprising objectives to make effective inroads into the huge Chinese market.
