With everything this game gets right, there is one major flaw in it's design, one true sin that any game should ever make.... It's boring.

It has some questionable design choices here and there. Like how you have to summon monsters to do naval fights, which isn't inherently bad but they have timed life for some reason.
The npc will not stop yapping about incoming dangers and I couldn't find a way to turn that off.
There are a few more choices that I don't personally enjoy that don't outright ruin the experience but that's not what kills it for me.

"The killer?" you may ask, is rather simple.... Managing your people. The resources are fine, having an assortment of different islands that manufacture some resources better then others is fantastic but the people.... The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people..... Each hosing building you construct houses one person. That's a design choice, one that I disagree with for the simple notion of it doesn't make the game better, it makes it more tedious. However, even that I can get past but here is the kicker. You have different tiers of resources that have to be managed by people of that tier and ONLY of that tier. If you upgrade all your people to tier 2? Then no one can work the tier 1 jobs. The problem is the same with tier 3. So, you have houses that house ONE person and you have to have people of all the different tiers..... It's a logistical nightmare, not a fun puzzle to be solved. Couple that with the fact each person has a preferred job and you have to manually move them across each island and you're left with this nightmarish abomination.

Now there are other things that compound these problems further but I don't think THOSE things are a problem, they just highlight the absolute abomination that is the population management. If you had districts for each tier of population, with each building housing more then a single person then it'd be infinitely better. Maybe make it so you can set the preferred profession in the buildings so you can have the right workers on the right islands easier. However, this is not the case, it is a poorly designed nightmare that doesn't respect your time.

TL;DR
Poor population management options and a tiered resource system feed into a loop of endless monotony that doesn't respect your time.

Not a bad city-building time killer. I think that this game has much more potential than currently implemented, some parts of it still feel "raw" and "early-access", - but overall, I enjoyed my playthrough.

Great city builder plus combat, lots of eldritch attention to detail, tentacle squelching good fun! I'm a big fan of the Mythos and this was a fun experience.

Finished the first part of the game, and in my view, with all its flaws, it's a great addictive game in lovecraftian themed games set.

management, events, environment, the horrors, the supernatural, the evil, the madness, it's all here, in a colony of cultists.

Some things are annoying ike managing housing. and satisfying all the petty needs of these cultists, specially based on things like distance to buildings.

i think it gets repetitive too.

but if you enjoy colony sims, lovecraftian themes, the supernatural, this is game that i think you can enjoy.

its a good world builder that does a horror aspect really well. most games don't. however wish you could customize parts of the HUD or inventory system.

Worshippers of Cthulhu is a unique game that comes packed with ideas that will appeal to fans of Eldritch horror. Unlike many other city builders, the emphasis here is on growing and advancing your cult. From sacrificing your followers for the Great Old One's favours to carving specialised skills on their bodies, you have tools and abilities here that you are unlikely to get in other city builders. Summoning monsters and controlling them in RTS combat was also quite unique.

On the downside, this game is not as finely refined and fine tuned as other city builders. You don't get as many city managing tools (not even a marketplace where you can exchange one type of goods for others) and some special conditions (such as finding and cremating ghost bones in one level) are more gimmicky and annoying than fun. But overall, purely on the pure strength of uniqueness and niche offering on display here I recommend this game to fans of Eldritch / Cosmic horror, Grimdark and dark Fantasy.

Really enjoying it. Borrows a lot from Anno which is a good thing, however it is a tad slower pace? I might just be playing it wrong though. I very much recommend it but be warned there is a timer for each map that can be extended based on RNG events and some in-game actions (the timer can be optionally disabled completely too!) and there are some easy to make mistakes when it comes to min-maxing workers in specific houses in specific locations for specific roles..

OOPS I just upgraded my specialized lumberjack into a T2 house which cannot work as lumberjacks, guess I need to get to carving some symbols into backs.. what's that? My lumberjack was already carved into that role? Well, I guess I'm just gonna need to sacrifice that T2 worker! Could I have avoided this by moving that worker to another location and/or swapping in a homeless family first? Yes. Is this eventually fixable? Yes. Can I just get gud? Maybe.

Still a great game. If you like Anno but want something new and that hits different, buy it.

If you like Anno 1404, you're going to love this game. A Cthulhu-themed Anno is the best way I can describe it — and it's as addictive as Anno 1404.

A fantastic mix of strategy and cosmic horror!

Worshippers of Cthulhu really nails the eerie atmosphere of Lovecraft’s mythos, with haunting visuals, deep mechanics, and a sense of growing dread that keeps pulling you in. Managing your cult, spreading influence, and performing dark rituals feels both satisfying and sinister in the best way. If you're into dark strategy games with a unique theme, this is a must-play. The Old Ones are calling... 👁️‍🗨️🦑

I started playing this game mainly because of Lovecraft's world, and I was not disappointed. The music and visuals perfectly capture the atmosphere of this world. Events in which you can make decisions further reinforce the feeling of being the leader of a cult. Although I am not a city builder player, I had a lot of fun with this game.

While atmosphere and core gameplay seems solid, but looks like UI/UX expert was not present in development team. It is not robust, it is clunky, it does not help me play, it slows me down. Ruined my expirience. Would revisit in some to see if maybe there would be improvements in that area.

Lovecraft would be happy and proud of this title. I believe he'd play this game with a smile on his face.

As of writing this review there are 4 chapters, chapter 2 has a completion rate of 9.2% , chapter 3 of 1.9% and chapter 4 for of 1.5%. And there is a reason for that: The gameplay is just as horrible as the monsters you try to summon. The idea is great, but everything else sucks. EVERYTHING

the premise was interesting, but I found it taking all my willpower to play any more to see the "story". It just gets boring very quickly. Like someone said, it is a more boring version of "against the storm". I wish I liked it more, but after I finish chapter 4, I don't think I will try any of the side missions.
