Even before he left we'd only hear from him half a dozen times a month. The reason soyjak.st became the main domain is because it was impossible to get him to change the DNS records on it since on the rare occasions he did pop in, he'd only stick around for 20 minutes at most and use excuses like not being at a computer when asked to do anything.
It's so funny when people say the site has barely changed since he left therefore he's still here. It's the complete opposite. The site has barely changed because he was never here to begin with.

imo OC threads die because there's not much to say about them. when the site was smaller a thread full of people going "gem" "coal" ">COAL EVEN DOE GEM" was able to stay up on the 'log long enough for people to notice it but nowadays it gets slid off in like half an hour if you don't keep it bumped yourself. you basically have to force OC for people to give a fuck but if you do that they'll seethe and schizopost about der 'cord.

People don't actively browse boards other than /soy/ because of how slow they are, which means they notice replies to their threads much later than they would on /soy/.
If people get notified whenever their threads are replied to then they're much more likely to reply right away which increases the chances that they'll get into an active discussion with someone in real time rather than spreading out a 3 reply conversation over 3 days.
Similarly, if the overboard has all the features that a regular board does then I hope a lot of people will start browsing the overboard instead of /soy/ which will lead to threads on other boards getting attention too.
