idk what peoples obsession was with my super old art and the whole "art regression" thing like yes my shit did look worse for a time period but that whole ordeal was new levels of art toxicity and parasocialism you've never seen before.

people I don't know whose art I kinda fw hopped on the bandwagon too and I remember being disappointed how people are so quick to make fun of people's art if they hate em enough especially for a smear campaign.
i don't see that "meme" as much because I'm sure people are aware of my new handle and saw that I don't draw like that anymore. either way the art community lame asf.
sorry I talk about this occasionally, I just think it's absurd that people made fun of a teenagers art and got 70k likes from it but whatever
i used that spite I had to improve my art but still loser shit from the art community. so toxic and parasitic.
I would have to block so many people regularly on Twitter cause it would keep being reposted and with more and more exaggerated lies.
It was ridiculous how people thought about it then and it’s ridiculous now.
People just want a reason to complain when they have literally nothing else going on. It’s stupid, really. Just nonsense on top of nonsense.
It was super fucking weird like, harassing people for trying out new styles because you think it looks worse technically is absolute loser behavior
I get at the end of the day that it was fishing for excuses to harass someone they already disliked but it was so dumb "its for your own good" nonsense
I hate to be this person but it seems like to me some of these people need to go outside and develop significant enough lives that they worry and complain about more urgent matters than whatever tickles your fancy about your art. Like of all things in the universe Salem’s art is the obstacle here?
I have no idea why so many people had it in for you back in the pandemic years like what was their fucking problem
i overlap with many marginalized identities on top of being a "problematic"(mentally unwell and socially awkward and unintentionally offensive) teenager at the time so yeah
Fucking hypocrites, nobody here has mental health. They’re not better just because they mask it harder.
No idea what you're talking about.
You're a really good artist and I like and respect you.
Send post.
ppl still bring it up too and justify it bc they think you were a "groomer"... as a teenager???
tbh queer people by default are seen as that so that word just completely lost meaning, especially as a victim of grooming too.
I've seen a certain group of people on multiple occasions pedo-jacket newly 18 year old trans furries, which is creepy as fuck at least to me.
Worst part is that they weren't even overt transphobes or openly nazis, they were fellow queer people and "trans allies". Makes me sick, honestly.
their weird obsession about it has caused so many young artists to make posts asking if their art is regressing it’s so sad :(
Ill be so honest the way people talked about your art fucked me up second-hand especially seeing as i didnt really see a regression. Even when people showed a difference i thought u were just simplifying so u could cartoon more since itd be quicker.
Like seeing ppl act that way to u was scary and made me fear showing my own art on the slim chance id experience the same.
Glad ur still posting and making great stuff.
Literally middle finger those people! You're art is amazing and blessed af
the amount of harassment I saw you receive just for drawing what you wanted and what you liked made me extremely afraid to post about any of my own interests for a long time in fear of harassment, I'm really happy you're still posting the type of characters you love to draw 💖
twitter culture really sucks and it's why I don't post there anymore because I experienced so much harassment that to this day i still don't trust the art community. it's unfortunately full of cliquey people that focus less on the enjoyment of art and more so on who gets the most views and clicks
It's like. Weren't you also in high school when the workload was ramping up when ur drawings got ""worse"". When I was younger I put a lot more detail into my work than I did in the latter half of highschool.
If I see anyone act like that I'll get the shovel
i remember those posts, and i was like "yikes" back then, cuz
no one should do a smear campaign to any unharmful artists like that ugh.... you never deserved such treatement. I'm happy I found your new handle tho, know that your art is amazing and you're a huge inspiration 💖
Feels like what Home Owners Association people pull when they need something vauge to insult. It was simultaneously safe to throw as the thrower due to lack of pushback and easy to throw at anyone that was pushing back due to it's vaugeness.
It invented a new insecurity for artists to be afraid of.
The more you talk about Tumblr is the more scared I am of it. It sounds worse than Twitter from what I've read 😭.
