i still get reminded (unwillingly) over that 2k note Tumblr post that was like "I don't care about your ftm fursona with a big ass" along with other trans men being shitty towards my art and expression and as angry as I get over it, I'm also somewhat humored that my art is a toxic dudebro repellent

I love how people saying things like that.... shows that they Do Care. they may not LIKE, but they clearly Care if they're saying something.... lol
And they do care. Obviously. And so do the countless people who reposted it. They say they dont care but they do, a lot. But they dont want to say they dislike it, that feels mean. Not caring? That's cool, aloof, makes them feel better

Salem, honest to G-d, your art is making me a better person. I used to have a kind of shitty hypermasculine mentality and I would be so unreasonably angry towards feminine trans men. art like yours, and artists like you, have been making an impact on me you probably don’t understand, but thank you.
this means a lot, I'm not a professional or anything, but I really want my art to be about love and different perspectives. especially in terms of men being allowed to be feminine and soft and cared for.
Sometimes I take that response as a compliment because there's something there that is reflecting a side they didn't know they had, or are so desperate to repress. You got under their skin, and you're unashamed unlike them.
It means you're important. What you did, is important.
people are often afraid of gender nonconformity, but it especially sucks when other trans people turn on you bc of that. i wish it was easier to be accepted by our own community
