Quick note* I've payed my child support through my business license, every payment on time since I started working Uber here.
On Friday, I received a notice through Uber support that I have an Involuntary wage garnishment for child support. This states that I am being garnished as an Employee of Uber. Uber has already turned off my instant pay, and has catered to this garnishment. Effectively Uber is stating by accepting this, that I am their employee..... right? My other question, If I am already sending them money for a wage garnishment that has been amended to my business license, How is it that they can attach to a company that I subcontract from? If you guys can point me in the direction of an employment laws lawyer that works with us drivers that can help me with this, that would be great.

I currently pay with a garnishment amended to my business license, This shows child support my total pay, and encompasses the earnings from Uber, Lyft, Postmates and Grubhub to my business account. I'm currently paid up and doing fine, however, this is a little bit of double dipping, since there is an order currently for $100 on my license that is currently being paid. My total monthly requirement is $100. If I pay the first order of $100, and Uber is paying the second order of $100, that's $200 when I am only supposed to pay $100.

Also, if you are wondering, I'm not a deadbeat dad. Ex wife cheated and had a child while I was deployed to Korea, she didn't know who his father was, so the state took it out on me. Never had rights to or have even been allowed to see this kid, but the state still requires me to pay.

I've been fighting this case for 6 years when I found out about this child after my license got suspended and was held in contempt. Trust me I know what they can do. After my DNA test and showing my Air Force orders stating that I was in Korea at the time of conception, they removed the current order, but are holding me still responsible for payments from the time he was born until my case got cleared.

Things suck, but I consider it as a $100/m donation to a kid in need.
