Here in Finland, there’s something called the Names Board, which reviews whether a name is allowed under our naming laws.It might sound strict, but there are over 120,000 approved names to choose from. The laws were also relaxed a few years ago to better accommodate families with foreign backgrounds. Each year, the Names Board publishes a list of rejected name suggestions. It’s always surprisingly short, which suggests that not many parents try to give their kids extremely unique names here.
