Tracking Light novel reading

Curious how people use the Chapter & Volume progress in List editor? Trying to figure out how others keep track. Do you just use the volume tracker or also the Chapter one (for instance if you have read 2 volumes of one and are a few chapters into the third volume would you mark 2 volumes complete then the number of chapters you are through in the third one?)

The LN I'm currently reading goes like this :
Vol 1 Ch.1 ,Ch.1.2 , Ch.1.3 ... Ch.2 , Ch 2.1, Ch,2.2 ...Ch.9
Vol 2 Ch.1 ,Ch.1.2 , Ch.1.3 ... Ch.2 , Ch 2.1, Ch,2.2 ...Ch.12
Vol 3 ...
Vol.3.5 ...
Vol 4 (should be marked as Vol 5 ?)

The way it's announced on the page currently upon updating is sort of inconvinient and it looks like i'm re-reading vol.1 over and over again.

I'm not sure if this issue is uncommon as I've been reading from just 1 LN so far.

The interesting numbering for chapters is definitely not always helpful! Like for manga that have half chapters or even ones that start with Ch 0. Do you mark that you have read the first chapter? or not?

Unfortunately, they aren't listed in the table of contents, so I guess I'll have to have a long scroll through each volume so far to get to the actual number .

In any case, wouldn't it be simpler to change the way LNs are dispayed ?
(to show either vol. instead of ch. count or vol. + ch. count)

Thanks!

It does make it a bit confusing when tracking manga chapters and if you add extra chapters and are on ch 50 lets say, but there were 2 extra chapters before that, your tracker says you are on 52...

That makes sense! Thanks so much :D
