Recently, a Q&A session with SEGA's top brass has revealed some good and bad news about the Dreamcast. First off, SEGA lost approximately 107 billion yen in DC hardware and with the additional 56 billion yen loss relating to the pulling out of the hardware business adds up to a rather large 163 billion yen gross loss. When the announcement that SEGA was to become a third party developer, SEGA had around 2,000,000 Dreamcast units in stock. At the end of March 2001, only 120,000 units remain Japan, and 820,000 units internationally, for a total 940,000 units. Currently about 700,000 units remain in stock. Not many units left worldwide, but there is an upside - DC hardware support will continue for another six years, so should any problems occur with your Dreamcast, you'll always have the support of SEGA.
