People keep saying, “Well the Democrats walked out, and that made a statement.” A statement? Cool, but what did it do? They break decorum once, just enough to block one guy, but the next one sails through without a hitch. If Democrats really had all these tricks up their sleeves, why aren’t they using them every single time? Why aren’t they throwing sand in the gears every step of the way like Republicans do when they’re in the minority? Why aren’t they making it miserable to pass anything that hurts working people?
Because it’s not strategy. It’s theater. A photo op. A press release. I’m sick and fucking tired of performative politics. Either fight like the stakes are real, or admit you’re not actually interested in winning.
