Yes the original plan for Tokyo 2020 was for it to be a Video Game All Stars Game with lots of classic and present day video game characters.

@leecocker, I have a question about the Mario & Sonic series that I’m curious about:
Were SEGA & Nintendo ever going to expand the Olympic Games past Mario & Sonic and include other Gaming All-Stars into the mix at all, and if they couldn't do so, why would that the case at all?
