#cilantromixturebean and nothingness is consuming my fucking life
i’ve been cracking my head on more 5 bean difficulty puzzles, they’re not as scary as they look, but each one is this endless world unto itself with multiple contingencies and processes you need to discover and put together, they’re puzzles made of puzzles, “Spider Pond” made me feel like i was learning to play a whole new game all by itself.
it might be hard to recommend this game, because if you don’t explore the super high difficulty stuff you’ll just be playing an alright indie puzzler with an oddly fiddly & cumbersome base set of mechanics, but it goes so deep. It’s in a class of its own, I think.

there is probably a more nicely worded version of this take somewhere out there but unfortunately i hold deep envy for the ability some of my contemporaries have to just get tabs off of them indefinitely, for spurious and damning allegations alike. you will not get the nuanced take from me.
a while ago i saw an anti-cnc meme that went something like "if your boyfriend learns not to stop at "no", do you really think he's gonna stop at Pineapple?" and ive been thinking about it a lot. like, it assumes that words have some kind of mystical meta-meaning that persists in all contexts, that if we discard the word "no" we also discard the concept of saying no in a symbolic sense. It's a lingually prescriptivist argument in disguise.
when you denote a safeword you’re doing language. you’re adding another meaning onto a word, i don’t have to put it literally. for our purposes it means “stop for real, get out of character right now” and if my hypothetical partner ignored that, it would semantically be a normal violation of consent. weird argument.
my tendency to let my baggage fall out and become an open secret might be an ocd thing. like taking your iron with you to work so you stop worrying about leaving it on, worrying about accidentally letting my dark secrets out is far more draining than just letting everyone know i am a bit of a freak
if i ever get cancelled for all the dadposting it’ll have been an open secret for so long, it won’t even matter. i am quelling the theater of revealing what was hidden, or at least that’s how it works in my head. mentally it is a path of least resistance and i’m much happier now
this is a one-in-a-kind puzzle game, i think it might just be math homework, but its very creative. i'm barely halfway through (i hope??) and i'm gonna need to hunker down with some pen and paper in order to keep going, i'm at world 8 for reference.
ok yeah i just solved the first puzzle that required a calculator, (it was 8-3) this is a hefty treat for a certain kind of person. presumably it opens in a small window by default so you can reference the .txt editor with all your notes while you play.
also there’s a lot of stolen music in this, so if i expose this too much and the dev gets a cease and desist i’ll make new music as penance

Well Patty where do I begin. You’re obviously very clever, and very eloquent when you’re given the chance to show it. I love listening to you give an opinion on anything in the world because I know you can back it, even if I can’t fully understand it. It’s easy to respect you and what you say.
You’re also very caring, which is evidenced by everything you say and do; in particular I notice how you inquire after my butch and what he is feeling up to and how you can spend time with us in a disability-honoring way, which I’m sure to you seems only logical, but in fact shows the extent to which you consider everyone around you, especially people you care about, especially when it comes to any favors you have to ask. You’re fun to hang out with—I think of you first when I plan something new, even if it ends up being something you’re not interested in or can’t attend. I love talking to you about anything and nothing at all. I particularly love hearing you repeat yourself on something I already know you think; I love having the surreal feeling of recognizing something you’re saying from a video I watched before I ever met you, or just recalling that you’ve already said something exactly the way you’re saying it now. It’s pleasant and comforting, and admittedly I also find it a useful metric to figure out who is fronting. I’ve enjoyed meeting everyone and talking through their differing situations with you. I hope things will improve for you and I will always fight for you; you deserve to have things be kind and easy.
