Update on PLA Joint Combat Readiness Patrols Around Taiwan
(Based on 's Data)
Three Observations:
(1) July 8 marked the 26th joint combat readiness patrol this year. The patrol started at 7:30 a.m., making it the second earliest this year, after March 17. However, two patrols occurred on March 17.
(2) In July 2024, the PLA conducted four joint combat readiness patrols. Two involved military aircraft crossing the Bashi Channel, and one involved aircraft operating within the Bashi Channel. So far this July, during two joint combat readiness patrols, only one drone crossed the Bashi Channel.
(3) Although July is one of the most intense months for PLA military exercises and drills, this July has seen four peak periods of military aircraft activity but only two joint combat readiness patrols. So far this year, the pattern resembles 2024, as the frequency of joint combat readiness patrols has not yet increased significantly during the peak exercise period.
