1. unexpected Main Character change 2. unexpected collab with Tachibana this is so gold
5.2K
I was not prepared for how accurate his simple cartoon avatar was.
5.7K
I lost it when you revealed he got Tachibana as a client. Japan Cinematic Universe.

I’m astonished that the student inadvertently drew the attention of his trolls to his lawyer
1.9K
Oh my god, Japanese internet in 2010 was vicious
3.8K
"He hired Japan's premier expert in internet law" Everyone run, he called the cyber police
2.4K
"and while he's likely not responsible for any of the bomb threads" imagine if he actually was responsible for one, nobody would've even suspected him
1.3K
The kid said some awful things online but his haters got back at him by [checks notes] making bomb threats and going to prison. They’re all losers.
1.4K
Oh my god, I was not expecting the Destroy the NHK guy to make a cameo.

It's one thing to make a shitpost making fun of someone, but it's really weird when people actually ruin their lives with long prison sentences in the name of messing with someone. It's like wow, you sure showed him by going to jail for 8 years.

The Japanese internet is the epitome of "taking things too far." The lawyer was a ignorant idiot, but he didn't deserve years of harassment. To be honest, he made the best of the situation. I imagine others may have committed "non-ceremonial seppuku" under such pressure.

Karasawa didn't work in his father's law firm. His father is an accountant, not an attorney. It's probably true, though, that he depended on his father's financial resources for almost everything in his life. I've also seen rumors that his father was paying rent for the space Karasawa's law firm occupied, but I haven't confirmed this.

It is said that this incident advanced online harassment methods by ten years. One of the worst forms of harassment involved spreading a rumor that an orgy party was taking place at the Yagami’s family home, which actually led to gathering numerous people. Some people attempted to enter the house and there is a photo of many cars lined up in front of the house.

Defacing his family member's grave is super low. What kind of person would do that?
3K
Apparently bomb threats from his trolls reached as far as Korea and even the Philippines, the authorities oblivious to the whole trollimg campaign

Omg, VERY excited for a new Japanalysis video. I live in Japan but the context of so much current news slips past me. It was thanks to you that I learnt about the Big Motor fiasco, the scamming lady, and the NHK politician - Even though I saw them often on the news I had no idea what was the story. I rave about your channel to anyone who will listen.

Getting "destroy the NHK" Tachibana as a client after NHK produced a 1 hour documentary metaphorically gargling his balls is peak.

WTF is wrong with people? Why would you risk going to jail just to make fun of some dude? Also only 4 years for threatening the whole government!

Japanese cyber bullying is DIFFERENT.

In Russia, we have such definition as "lower Internet", which includes some marginalized yet quite famous Internet-celebrities. Incels, alcoholics, junkies, perverts, borderline-insane or retarded people - that kind of men. And one of the integral part of this thing is that most of them contacted each other in most unexpected ways, which builds a complicated social network and makes all the crazy stuff squared. AND SOMEHOW IT WORKS EXACTLY THE SAME IN JAPAN

Karasawa is one of those people who realizes he's becoming a meme and instead of fighting it he decided to ride the waves and bolster his popularity
286
Funny that the lawyer lives life although annoyed still unscathed while the harassers are screwing their lives over by getting criminal records theyd have forever
264
I have seen that face but never really knew the significance of it. Who knew this innocent little image had so much lore.

Internet psychosis. Lol-cows vs trolls is always more sad than funny.

This isn't about Chris-Chan...
1.1K
Japanese trolling is next level. Defacing the family grave was wild
241
I learned about this from Atrocity Guide. I'm equal parts impressed and terrified by how Japanese people troll. I don't even think Chris Chan's trolling got to this level in some regards.
174
The first impact on Yagami was him getting doxxed. The second impact for him was that he wasn't even the main character of this episode.
149
Any night a new Japanalysis video drops is a good night
171
He should hire a lawyer.
16
An internet board getting so angry it makes a guy famous across the country for unrelated reasons is amazing, but the crimes sour it.
81
"What would you have to do to have the internet hate you, thousands of people stalk you, frame you, and even go to jail and try to ruin your life?" Drawing a comic with a yellow Sonic OC seems like it'd be a good start
67
4chan trolling: "Ahah let's dance in costumes in front of their workplace!" 2chan trolling: Elaborate CIA operation with mass involvement by thousands of users and meticulous psyop campaign"
288
16:48 The owner of 4chan acting like he has any sort of moral standing is funny
336
I feel bad for the lawyer. Imagine if all of those people used that energy to do something that helped the world or society, instead of trying to ruin some random idiot lawyer's life. The internet is a pandora's box at best, and that's solely because of the nature of the people who use it.
347
Honestly props to the lawyer for making the best use of the situation and instead of hiding himself more which would've been futile, he accepted it to some degree and reached some pretty high places thanks to it. It's also very Japanese of the 2chan users to turn their harassment into something that's seemingly more positive with their undying cult-like devotion to this man.
91
Never underestimate internet losers.
155
The US has Chris Chan, Germany has Drachenlord and Japan has Karasawa.
18
In Germany we have/had a similar case called "Drachenlord". Thought a phenomenon like that is pretty unique but I guess it happens all over the world.
