Cowtowing to that group leads to a quick and rabid rise in attention and "support" but the tradeoff is that you limit your appeal to a small rabid group that can and will devour you the moment you don't fall in line.
Its a form of rapid but limited and shallow growth. They don't like you because of who you are and what you do, they like you because they think they can control you and use you to hurt the people they hate.
This never ends well.
