Xu Zewei (徐泽伟), who was arrested in Milan on July 3, is claiming he’s not a hacker, he’s not being truthful.
During an award presentation event on June 18, 2024, Xu and other cybersecurity professionals in China received commendations for their technical expertise and contributions to the China National Vulnerability Database (CNNVD) in 2023.
Specifically, Xu, as Director of Security Technologies at Chaitin Tech (长亭科技) — which is known for its white hat hacking activities, was awarded “Excellent Specially-Appointed Technical Expert” along with well-known white hat hacker and cybersecurity company Cyber Kunlun founder Zheng Wenbin (郑文彬), aka MJ, and Qi An Xin CodeSafe expert Liu Benjin (柳本金) [left and upper right pics].
Chaitin Tech was also awarded for its contributions to vulnerability mitigation and technical support in 2023.
