Ian Flynn went around with an answer why Blaze the Cat is able to travel freely to Sonic's dimension in his IDW Comic writing with his Sonic storyline, he said the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds are not able to interdimensional connect with each other. Meaning he is going to ignore the Sonic Rush games lore that requires both the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds to reopen the barriers between Sonic the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat's dimensional separate worlds. I found this information from the vs battles wiki about the Sol Emeralds.
It says the Sol Emeralds were causing Blaze's universe to merge with Sonic's, creating space-time distortions that would eventually lead to the destruction of both universes. Meaning again Ian Flynn is willing to ignore that part of the lore in the Sonic Rush games that the Sol Emeralds and Chaos Emeralds can affect dimensions. But then there is the part of his moronic writing where he ironically acknowledges this conveniently in his DC Comics and Sonic the Hedgehog crossover where Darkseid stated by Flynn's own written words he needed all seven Chaos Emeralds to affect the entire universes which is interdimensional affecting levels of connections. Ian Flynn is filled with insane self serving troll logic with his story writing.
Ian Flynn "explaining" something about Sonic lore that directly contradicts the video games in a way that proves once again that he's never actually played any of these games before?
It's almost like he's a fucking shithead who doesn't know the first thing about Sonic and literally everything he says about the franchise should be disregarded as the idiotic ignorant ramblings of a scientologist. Or something.
hikingsuperRebloggedrandomthefoxFollowAnonymous asked:I thought that all of Shadow’s chaos abilities were just extensions of chaos control since chaos is power enriched by the heart, and Shadow was only able to use the full extent of his abilities without the use of a chaos emerald after—in Sonic Battle—he comes to terms with the fact that he’s more than just a weapon and he has a heart. Shadow is literally using his own power, his own willpower, enriched by his heart, the same way Sonic performed chaos control in Sonic Adventure 2 by relying on his own willpower. Even though it’s impossible to perform chaos control with a fake chaos emerald, Sonic did it because he believed he could, showing that a chaos emerald wasn’t necessary in the first place. Shadow putting the word “chaos” in front of the name of each of his attacks isn’t something he did just because he thinks it sounds cool; it’s because he’s performing chaos control. Controlling the powers of chaos isn’t restricted to teleportation. randomthefox answered:You're very close but you're still putting too much stock in the influence of the chaos emeralds. Frankly my friend, you're just saying "chaos energy" without saying the words chaos energy.Shadow's abilities are not "extensions" of "chaos control", they're just manifestations of his own capabilities - they have nothing to do with "the powers of chaos." Shadow's Chaos Spear is no different from Sonic's Sonic Wind, or Tails' Thunder Shoot, or Knuckles being able to do Ken's fire laced shoryukenlike it's literally just a Ken shoryuken lolShadow can do these things because he's Shadow. Not because of any kind of power that originates from chaos. Your assessment is accurate, it just needs to be edited lol."Shadow was only able to use the full extent of his abilities after—in Sonic Battle—he comes to terms with the fact that he’s more than just a weapon and he has a heart. Shadow is literally using his own power, his own willpower, enriched by his heart."The presence or absence of a chaos emerald is irrelevant insofar as abilities like "chaos snap" (the teleport) and "Chaos spear" are concerned. Chaos Control is a catch all term for anything that SPECIFICALLY REQUIRES a Chaos Emerald to be able to be done, full stop. If it doesn't REQUIRE a chaos emerald on hand, then it by definition isn't anything related to chaos control whatsoever. You're putting too much stock into Shadow's techniques being NAMED "chaos [blank]." I don't think saying that they're just called that because Shadow thinks they're cool names is off base at all.
hikingsuperRebloggedrandomthefoxFollowAnonymous asked:So, the fake Chaos Emerald Tails made has the same “wavelength and properties, but it’s less powerful than the real one." I thought this meant that it gives off the same signal as a Chaos Emerald (wavelength); can do all of the stuff a regular Chaos Emerald can do (properties); but can only be used a limited amount of times before it’s used up, or it has to also take some energy from the user (less powerful than the real one). That last point is why Sonic was so tired after using it for Chaos Control. You would obviously want a real Chaos Emerald over a fake one because the real one can be used an unlimited amount of times with no consequences for the user, but you can still use the fake Chaos Emerald for a power boost. Thoughts?randomthefox answered:That's not really how I interpreted it. People always tend to overlook this line."it's designed to reverse the energy field inside the chaos emeralds and blow up."Tails did not design the fake emerald to be a less powerful substitute that can do exactly what the real chaos emeralds can do but just not as good. Tails designed the fake emerald TO BE A BOMB that specifically INVALIDATES the energy of the chaos emeralds and BLOW UP.It having the "same wavelength and properties" is meant to trick machines that are designed to detect and use the chaos emeralds. And it does that. The "wavelength and properties" are the same so that the Eclipse Canon will register the fake emerald as a valid battery being slotted into it. It has nothing to do with the functionality of the emerald. The function of the emerald is to reverse the polarities and BLOW UPIf someone tried to use the fake emerald in the same way they'd try using the real emerald, it should do the OPPOSITE of what they were intending to use it for AND THEN EXPLODEWhy the fuck would Tails design something that he was fully intending to be used as a BOMB to be able to act as a store brand counterpart to the legitimate chaos emeralds? He created it to be used as a booby trap, and to function as one it has to be able to fool machines. There is NOTHING in the text of Sonic Adventure 2 or Shadow Generations that implies the Fake Emerald can be used in the same capacity of Chaos Control and achieving Super transformations like the real Chaos Emeralds.

hikingsuperRebloggedyunogasaikinnieFollowAnonymous asked:Do you think that Irisviel von Einzbern's role as the physical manifestation of the Holy Grail might've been inspired by Elaine of Corbenic (the 'Grail Maiden' from Arthurian legend?)yunogasaikinnie answered:Elaine of Corbenic, as the Grail Maiden and mother of Galahad, embodies both sanctity and tragedy—chosen by the divine yet used by others for their ends. Similarly, Irisviel von Einzbern’s role as the vessel for the Holy Grail in Fate/Zero carries that same blend of sacred purpose and loss of agency. She’s created with a specific destiny in mind—one that ultimately leads to her sacrifice for a 'greater' cause. Both characters also serve as key enablers of the Grail legend: Elaine gives birth to Galahad, the pure knight who succeeds in the quest to find the Grail, while Irisviel gives birth to Illyasviel, the homunculus who would go on to become both the next Grail vessel and one of the significant magi in the Fifth Holy Grail War. Their roles are quietly pivotal and deeply symbolic, tied to purity, motherhood, and the burden of divine artifacts. While there’s no explicit confirmation that Elaine directly inspired Irisviel, the thematic parallels are strong enough to suggest that Nasu and Urobuchi were at least spiritually echoing Arthurian motifs—especially considering the franchise’s deep entrenchment in those legends. So yes, she might very well be a modern, tragic reinterpretation of Elaine of Corbenic.@hikingsuper

hikingsuperReblogged randomthefoxwetsocksinbedFollowBaldurs Gate 3 is so wild when you realise how vastly different the game is depending on if you choose Tav or Dark UrgeDark Urge Playthrough: you’re the child of Bhaal, but unlike the Bhaalspawn, you are created solely by Bhaal himself. The first true child of Bhaal. The daughter of one of your father’s previous Bhaalspawn turns on you, attacks you and tries to kill you. In your dying state, she infects you with a parasite so that you’ll die an incredibly humiliating death, and become her slave.By some miracle you end up on the same nautiloud ship as a Sharron Cleric who happens to to be carrying a gith artefact that contains Baldur himself. Baldur, who was made a mind flayer and is now calling himself the Emperor, realises there’s an incredibly powerful Bhaalspawn on the ship, and that he can use them to his advantage. The power you have will help him destroy Gortash. Of course he picks you, it makes so much sense. On your way to Baldurs Gate you find out through an unsent letter that you used to be into Gortash. When you get to Baldurs Gate, the man you used to fuck turns out to be an absolute loser and with horror you realise he is still into you. It’s okay though, he’s very easy to kill. You end up facing off against Orin, your niece, and kill her. Your father appears to you and offers you the chance to become his Slayer. On the high chance you turn him down, he murders you in front of your loved ones, and leaves you to rot. Then Jergal, the actual Lord of the End of Everything, the original God of Death, who was the very being that turned you father into a God all that time ago, who’s been in your camp for weeks pretending to be this undead scribe called Withers, appears next to your corpse and brings you back to life, basically adopts you, states that he will protect you from Bhaal, and announces that as long as he lives, you will never die. You’re essentially immortal. Tav Playthrough: you’re a random nobody that was unlucky enough to get kidnapped by Mind Flayers. The Emperor must pick one of the many idiots on the ship to be his pawn. He sees Tav and thinks “ugh, yeah this one will do”.9,255 notes

hikingsuperRebloggedthesuperzzeroFollowforemem asked:As someone who read StC outside of any part of the sonic fandom who already had. It's weird to me that people refer to the good super sonic as just "fleetways Supers amnesia arc" since the way I read it, it very much seemed like a different identity forming in place of sonic as super sonics resting form. I don't see them as the same person at all.thesuperzzero answered:I feel this actually. I usually refer to him as amnesiac fleetway/super just because it's easier to recognize, but he regains his memory pretty early into that story so it doesn't make too much sense to say that, does it? Even after remembering who he was and therefore no longer having amnesia, he keeps his calmer personality. So it seems to me like the way he acts isn't because of memory loss, but rather chaos energy. It's shown that he was created via chaos energy, a power that is unstable and chaotic in nature, which is why he was... a lunatic. This is further supported by the fact his appearance changes when he's low on it. His features are softer, his eyes aren't huge spirals of mania, and most of all, he's kind. This all after he lost the ability to store it after overloading to break out of the black astriod. Additionally, tapping into his powers makes him spicky again, his spirals grow bigger, and he's once again chaotic. Sonic's radar that tracked his energy only went off then. So it's clear to me that the amount of chaos energy he's actively using being so low is why his personality changed, not because of memory loss. (Though it was a contributing factor)All that to say that "good" Super is likely his resting form, or who he would be if he wasn't always high on chaos energy. So when he isn't, his personality shapes into a real identity, rather than an extension of Sonic and one noted destruction driven demon. A caring, determined guy is who he really is at heart when he's allowed to be his own person. But unfortunately, that guy just wasn't allowed to exist by nature, and given the comics end, he likely never will be. 4 notes

hikingsuperRebloggedrandomthefoxFollowAnonymous asked:Evan Stanley can do great stuff so long as it doesn't involve writing.Flynn on the other hand....he has no redeeming qualities. I don't know why they keep him around.I guess Flynn is good at coming up with ideas that COULD be turned into something interesting but anyone can do that. Execution is what matters and he always fails at it.randomthefox answered:I think Stanley is a very very very talented and skilled artist. I compare her to Yui Karasuno as a full compliment. She's really only hamstrung by her own biases, such as her complete and total inability to draw Silver correctly. But I think her skills as a visual artist cannot be denied even if sometimes you can really feel the crunch. But boy can she not write. At all. That's not a personal insult. She should just stick to what she's good at.Flynn I think does have talent and it's in being an Idea Guy. And I don't think that that has no value, "anybody can come up with an idea" - honestly no, I have learned that some people really struggle with inspiration and being an Idea Person is a true talent not everybody has. He can come up with some pretty compelling premises for a story. The problem is that he cannot execute them. Once it comes time to actually sculpt that idea into a tangible narrative, he displays that he is completely unequipped to do so. He cannot accept constructive criticism and refine his idea based on feedback, he cannot actually write a compelling and interesting story that fleshed out all the concepts properly, he cannot depict characters who act consistently and believably in a way that is authentic to their characterization, and he has no mind for greater storytelling messages or themes. He has no talent as a storyteller whatsoever. But I do think he can very effectively come up with ideas that an actual writer could take and turn into a very good story. If he was more self aware he could exploit his position of undeserved prominence to surround himself with people with actual talent and skill, so he can hand off his ideas to them to produce a quality piece of fiction. I think that's what I find most disappointing about Ian Flynn. If he saw himself the way I see him, he could actually do some good for the franchise and set himself up with a successful career. But unfortunately his ego is too big and he refuses to accept that he is anything less than flawless and perfect, and whenever he fails it's somebody elses fault for holding him back. He believes the lie. He buys into his own hype. And thus he is held back from true greatness by his total inability to actually create anything of value. Bro won the fucking lottery when it comes to social clout, and he blew it all on rims.Pride may the worst of all sins, but undeserved pride is truly what leads to the fall.

The idea of him being from Blaze's dimension was still mentioned in one of the other Olympic games and at least one other thing before Iuzuka confirmed he was indeed from the future at a panel. randomthefox answered:I am aware, that's why I specifically used a reference from the Tokyo Olympics game because that is the most recent game featuring Nega and it was released months before Stanley's tweet was made. So regardless of any internal flip flopping behind the scenes, by the time Stanley made her public statement that the Sonic Rival games were considered "non canon" by SEGA, there was already an official game released that directly contradicted her.My goal is not to claim that SEGA's internal view of the video game continuity is flawless and unchanging, they've been making these games for 35 years and the whims of the producers and marketing department change with the blowing of the wind. My goal is to point out that Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley CANNOT be considered credible sources on Sonic continuity. They are CONSTANTLY and PROVABLY wrong about LITERALLY EVERYTHING they have EVER said about it.Whatever the current state of Sonic canon may or may not be at any given moment, it is a fact that Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley don't have a fucking clue.

hikingsuperRebloggedrandomthefoxFollowAnonymous asked:While Rivals not being canon to the reboot doesn't ring a bell, it is worth noting that Silver's reboot arc was still in a place called Onyx City and Onyx Island itself was in the original continuity as where Silver did a lot of research between trips. That Archie Reboot canonicity thing was honestly kind of a trip, if a somewhat understandable one at the time. Editor Lovallo and Flynn were trying to rebuild the book after so much of Penders, Bollers, Gallagher, and some of the other writer's stuff had to go, so they prioritized using as many of the games as they could as an outline to map everything else. It's also led to the Bumblekast where Kyle lost it at the idea that Sonic R was considered canon.randomthefox answered:Not sure why Sonic R wouldn't be canon. But I guess people basically just assume everything isn't canon if they aren't directly looking straight at it at any given time. For some reason. My understanding of the Archie Sonic reboot is basically Ian Flynn was trying to treat it as if it were Schrodinger's canon. So that everything that happened before in Archie did happen just not how it was in the previous comics, and also all the video games also happened just not in the way it was shown in those video games. Resulting in some kind of quasi quantum canon state where everything is and isn't canon depending on if Flynn is directly and specifically acknowledging it or not at any given moment.Which I guess explains why Kyle, the bootlicking weasel faced wormtongue, had the reaction he did about Sonic R, now that I think about it. And why Archie Snapes in general seem to think that any game that hasn't been specifically acknowledged within the last two years has been stricken from canon too. Their frame of reference is the Archie comics, where that was indeed the standing state of the comics continuity. It really is funny how every single "problem" people pretend there is about Sonic's continuity fucking disappears if you just ignore the dumbass adaptations and actually pay attention to the video game source material.
