The evolution of sharpshooting in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine uses major resources such as artillery coupled with satellite and drone intelligence. Small arms do not play a preeminent role as they do in terrorist actions, in the sense that they are a means of self-protection for ground troops, which hold the ground, as they are unable to deliver fire that is powerful enough and far enough away. Assault rifles continue to play the leading role in these light weapons, a priori satisfactorily (there is no controversy over the effectiveness of their main ammunition, for example, even if the 7.62x39 ammunition used on AK variants seems to dominate over the NATO 5.56x45) and no major technological leap has yet been noted or made public. The most notable developments over the last few decades have been the addition of a low-speed grenade launcher to the main weapon and the widespread use of optics (in particular red dots and eotechs); in this regard, the war in Ukraine merely confirms the lessons learned from the wars waged since the 2000s.
On the other hand, precision shooting has undergone significant changes.
