Mint wallpapers are so incredible that there are gitbub pages to download.
The wallpapers are great, and it is already a focus of each new reease, so how about there is a one click button that doesn"t even need a password to install all possible mint wallpapers to date. This would allow new users to enjoy wallpapers never seem before, and have even more appreviation for the system.
Linux Mint wallpapers, and the simpler desktop design is the #1 reason I recommend this over other systems.
I hope this can also be a small change added to all previous, currently-supported LTS and point releases. The way I would set it up is have a button that says
Install the complete linux mint wallpaper collection
I would also like to see some standout wallpapers shown on the homepage as a slideshow as a maimn focus area, and if anyone is into that idea, I'd like to suggest a few to show off.
The welcome screen should also make a big deal about wallpapers, and how to install all of them with one easy click, and why not just add them all into an installation image called "including all mint wallpapers" and make a big dwal about that on the website as well.
The button in background settings could just run the command
sudo apt install mint-artwork*
or run a wget command and add them to the pictures folder, like Windows 2000 and XP used to do, then just symlink them to /usr/share/backgrounds
Final idea, use PNG for wallpapers as the quality is a lot better and using maximum export compression is a similar size to jpg, so I see no reason to not use a lossless image format

Would that be before or after warning people as to just how significantly large a download that would be?JPG_is_so_1990s wrote: ⤴Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:04 pmThe welcome screen should also make a big deal about wallpapers, and how to install all of them with one easy click, and why not just add them all into an installation image called "including all mint wallpapers" and make a big dwal about that on the website as well.

This is a user forum where users help other users. Feature requests are to be posted in the Ideas category of linuxmint Discussions.

Would you mind submitting this for me? I have a github account but don't want that same account tied into this forum and would rather not create multiple github accounts.
Is there an option to make a linux mint account, and what logical reason is there that I am not allowed to use this account to access and participate in the ideas / feature request page?
It seems obvious you want to put up arbitrary and artificial barriers to reduce the total number of accounts that put in the extra effort to create a github account to reduce the overall participation of the ideas page. Please make this easier so more people can more quickly add feature requests.

I not only do not have a GitHub account, I volunteer my time on this forum and did not volunteer to be your secretary.
This forum and GitHub are two completely different systems. This forum is where users help other users with their problems with Linux Mint. GitHub is where the developers interact.JPG_is_so_1990s wrote: ⤴Fri Jun 27, 2025 3:25 pmIs there an option to make a linux mint account, and what logical reason is there that I am not allowed to use this account to access and participate in the ideas / feature request page?
It seems obvious you have not spent any time learning about the Linux Mint team to understand it is a small team that already has reams of feature requests. People being able to "more easily add feature requests" doesn't mean those feature requests will be addressed. Most likely it just means there will be a bigger list of potential ideas.JPG_is_so_1990s wrote: ⤴Fri Jun 27, 2025 3:25 pmIt seems obvious you want to put up arbitrary and artificial barriers to reduce the total number of accounts that put in the extra effort to create a github account to reduce the overall participation of the ideas page. Locking this as ideas for the developers should be posted to GitHub Discussions. While I can understand not wanting to associate your forum posts with your GitHub account, which presumably has your real name, I see no way around creating a 2nd GitHub account. You can be logged in to multiple GitHub accounts at the same time. If you click your avatar in the top right corner of the GitHub website, the account switcher is the ⇄ button to the right of your username.
