Cuarteron Reef is a rock located in the Spratly Islands. China first took possession of the feature in 1988. This was the before and after of Cuarteron Reef. Before China invading it, it was mere rocks- barely land. Now look at the after picture @West Philippine Sea

On 12 July 2016, the tribunal of the Permanent Court of Arbitration concluded that Cuarteron Reef contains, within the meaning of Article 121(1) of the Convention, naturally formed areas of land, surrounded by water, which are above water at high tide.

Prior to 2016, Carteron reef had a supply platform and a reef fortress. Slowly, there were multi stories buildings, lightbouses, usable area of 23 hectres, helipads, gun radar anti-aircraft weapons and a CIWS missile-defence system. This is Chinese imperialism.
