Update on PLA Joint Combat Readiness Patrols Around Taiwan

Three Observations:
(1) June 26 marked the 24th joint combat readiness patrol this year, up from 20 during the same period last year. Additionally, the number of days with over 30 aircraft sorties detected has risen to 15, compared to just 10 days in the first half of last year.
(2) So far this year, there have been 6 instances of joint combat readiness patrols featuring UAV activity circling Taiwan; in contrast, only 3 such occurrences took place throughout 2024, all in August.
(3) During patrols in the first half of this year, PLA aircraft crossed beyond the Bashi Channel 15 times—matching the total number for all of last year—while only 5 such crossings were recorded in the first half of last year.
