Update on U.S. and Chinese Carrier and Amphibious Deployments in the Western Pacific

During this period, a Chinese aircraft carrier group maneuvered beyond the Second Island Chain, while two carrier strike groups simultaneously deployed in the Western Pacific—both unprecedented operational milestones. Additionally, several records were set:
(1) The Liaoning task force operated outside the First Island Chain for 24 days—the longest duration on record.
(2) The two carrier strike groups comprised a total of 15 naval vessels, marking the largest formation ever recorded.
(3) Of these 15 vessels, four escorted an aircraft carrier for the first time, representing the highest number since 2024.
