1/20 The news about "Chinese agent" Christine Lee broke today. I've been following her case for some time & in fact she featured in my PhD thesis on UK-China hidden relations. She's appeared in stories by @The Times and The Sunday Times & @Guido Fawkes before. Yet there's still a lot more to this case.
Christine Lee’s second husband British solicitor Martin Wilkes is listed, along with Lee, as a director of Christine Lee & Co (Solicitors) Ltd. Other solicitor directors named in Companies House documents are David Tat Wai Ho and Jennifer Ho. 7/n dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1
Lee and Wilkes’ elder son Michael is also a solicitor whereas their younger son Daniel worked as an aide to Labour MP Barry Gardiner for years until his sudden resignation on the day MI5 issued an interference alert about his mother. 8/n
Labour MP Barry Gardiner claimed that he “only found out she was a spy this morning when he had a meeting with MI5 agents.” 9/n dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1
Christine Lee's law firm could still be accessed through UK’s Department of International Trade on Friday via the great.gov.uk government portal before being taken offline. Sloppy vetting. 10/n cnn.com/2022/01/14/uk/
🇬🇧 Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has ordered his officials to conduct a 'deep dive review' into whether Labour MP Barry Gardiner exploited his frontbench position to lobby on behalf of China. 11/n dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1
Pek-san Tan, formerly a “project manager” at Christine Lee’s campaign vehicle “British Chinese Project”, has a seat on the Metropolitan Police’s Anti-Hate Crime ESEA (East & Southeast Asian) Forum. Tan has used her position to make accusations of 12/n telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/01/1
racism against those who criticize the CCP and its repression of the Uyghurs. Tan is also the head of press for the London Chinatown Chinese Association, which has publicly supported Beijing’s brutal National Security Law. 13/n 🔻 Pek-san Tan
