Zhao Mingwei (赵明伟; “大熊” on Douyin) was apparently forced to leave Vietnam early after he arrogantly heckled and cornered a rep from Vietnamese group Vinpearl, during a presentation for potential foreign investors hosted by Vinpearl on Phú Quốc island, with questions like “do you know Taiwan belongs to China?” (left video; posted on his Douyin account on June 28) as soon as he saw
on a presentation slide and noticed that the Vietnamese presenter had said Taiwan instead of “China Taiwan”. Zhao flew to Phú Quốc from Shanghai for an “investor tour” on June 26 and was supposed to stay there for 5 days; so his trip was clearly cut short.
In subsequent videos posted on June 29 and June 30 (right video) he’s seen leaving Vietnam with the caption “sorry I’ve done everything I can” and then from a hotel room in Hong Kong he tried to explain what happened… it seems that he had to leave Vietnam early because he was accused of illegally operating an investor tour. Zhao also said his company in Hong Kong, himself and another person could be blacklisted by Vietnamese authorities.
