@caseyliss the battle to make notifications completely useless continues

@caseyliss so now apple pay notifications are useless.

@caseyliss well they say if you don’t pay for it, you are the product. Oh wait….

@caseyliss watch how fast I disable notifications for apps that do this. This is so gross.

@podfeet @caseyliss
I didn’t get a push notification, but this turned up in the wallet app.

@podfeet @caseyliss No, wait. There it is.

@caseyliss By accepting the iTunes agreement you probably agreed to this, ehehehe 😁

@caseyliss Is that a fucking Apple Pay ad?!!

@lo_fye @caseyliss

It’s really just as much an F1 the movie ad. Perhaps more so. Just the easiest way to apply a discount to boost attendence.

I personally can’t stand the app economy for the real world. I don’t want an app to see the thing. I don’t want an app to park. I don’t want an app to grab a burger. I don’t want an app for a doctors appointment.

@Chancerubbage @caseyliss IMHO, if I’m paying for AppleOne or AppleCare+ or especially both, I should never see a single ad for anything related to Apple. Period. I don’t allow anything containing or pushing ads in my home, and now I have no choice, even with the toppest tier of Apple gear. It’s a damn shame.

@caseyliss pfff sooooo much advertising for this film.

And now this?? Makes me not want to see it out of spite lol

@caseyliss The worst part is the “®”.

@gruber @caseyliss The worst part is the egregious promotional tie-in where they actually put the name of the movie right on their computer so it's in your face all day.

@caseyliss @ironicsans @gruber, they even have prepared for eleven sequels! Such greediness.

@volemo @caseyliss @ironicsans @gruber Some keyboards, even some Apple ones go up to 15 or 19!
That'll be a long slog for Brad Pitt.

@pmcg @volemo @caseyliss @ironicsans @gruber

F1 is etymologically related to FU

@ironicsans @gruber @caseyliss they have played us for absolute fools 😂

@gruber @caseyliss

But that F1 bit is the racing agency itself trying to preserve their ‘trademark’ from becoming small k or x Kleenex or xerox.

And it does not get nearly the publicity doubling as it did in newspaper days when the newspaper had to print the retraction that Kleenex is ‘Kleenex Brand Facial Tissue’

@caseyliss it’s fine just turn off ads in Wallet. Oh wait…
Ok it’s still fine, just use a different app for tap to pay. Oh wait…

@matthubble @caseyliss I’m still trying to figure out why this is a thing

@caseyliss Is that an advert from the Wallet app?! 🫣

@caseyliss @twostraws Presumably you have a Fandango pass in your wallet, right? Fandango is sending that, not Apple.

@agiletortoise @twostraws I don't think so. If I do, it's expired. That said, I just took a quick spin through expired passes and I didn't see any movie tickets.

@caseyliss @agiletortoise @twostraws same here. I've never used Fandango. Yet, I got the notification this morning. It said it was coming from apple cash.

@agiletortoise @caseyliss @twostraws No, I got this as an ad in the Wallet app itself and it has an Apple Pay header. F1 is an Apple Studios movie; this is Apple taking advantage of one business to drive money to another.

@agiletortoise @jwisser @caseyliss @twostraws There’s a wallet notifications setting to disable offers and promotions. 🙃

@Kerry Is that new in the 26 beta? I can't find that on 18.

@DazeEnd @agiletortoise Maybe? I never got the notification so was just digging around to see what I could find in the iOS 26 settings since I had that device handy.

@Kerry @agiletortoise @jwisser @caseyliss @twostraws I don’t have that, but I have an old SE so maybe that’s why. I’m going to keep looking though because F this

@maggiejk I think it’s only in iOS 26. 😣

@softmaus @Kerry I don’t see that here. How are you getting to that screen?

@mjtsai @softmaus It appears to be an iOS 26 b2 option.

@Kerry @mjtsai @softmaus I'm on beta 2 and I'm not seeing this in Settings/Wallet or Settings/Notifications/Wallet

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@JPZ @mjtsai @softmaus I found it in Wallet.app>three dot menu>notifications.

@Kerry @agiletortoise @jwisser @caseyliss @twostraws The fact they added that setting tells a lot about the direction Apple leadership is guiding the company in.
Enabled by default as well I expect?

@Kerry @agiletortoise @caseyliss @twostraws Is this setting new in 18.5? I'm on 18.4.1 and can't find it.

@jwisser Unsure. The phone I have handy at the moment is iOS 26.

@jwisser @Kerry @agiletortoise @caseyliss @twostraws
Just checked and the setting is not on iOS 18.5 either

@caseyliss Wallet>three dot menu>notifications. May only be in iOS 26 tho?

@Kerry @agiletortoise @jwisser @caseyliss Thank you! That’s an immediate change from me. Same for the new Vision Pro app notifications – anything I didn’t opt into is just noise I don’t need.

@jwisser @agiletortoise @caseyliss @twostraws @never_released they‘re using this *ad spot* for themselves here in Germany

@jwisser @agiletortoise @caseyliss @twostraws I got this yesterday and dismissed this ad. The most infuriating part is that I have already signaled that I was not interested, and Apple decides to annoy you with the same ad, this time with a disruptive notification.

I don’t recall having to dismiss the same ad over and over again on my Pixel.

@caseyliss as an F1 and Apple fan it has been ridiculous how thirsty they both are for me to see this movie

@caseyliss what finally got me was when the hairpin in Canada simply had the trailer playing on the screen for the entire race

@Kevin Yeah, I saw that. Ridiculous.
