As an older guy who grew up in the '90s, I can tell you that younger men today have a much harder time succeeding than my gen: less pay, less women, less sex, less opportunity, and less appreciation. 
You guys are playing life on hard mode. Don't let the older generation fool you by calling you lazy.

Talked to a 62 y/o boomer who was a “money manager” at a prestigious investment firm. He told me he partied throughout college, and got his degree in marketing and business. He got the job because his uncle knew someone in the company. 

It’s never been about “hard work” it’s all about who you know.

We're in a hypercompetitive economy where even having a Bachelor's degree in a good field doesn't guarantee a livable wage. I've seen finance and computer science master's students working in fast food. Even then, you need like 400k just for some random house in the middle of nowhere so your only choice is to rent a 3k a month apartment with multiple roommates. And this doesn't even begin to cover the social aspects of it like isolation, depression, etc.

Working presupposes you have something to work for. My father worked because he had a wife and kids. My grandfather worked because he had a wife and kids and property and a community that loved and respected him.
