CHINA CONSIDERED A DEMONSTRATIVE PHYSICAL ATTACK AGAINST TAIWANESE VICE-PRESIDENT IN PRAGUE:
- In March 2024, then Taiwanese Vice President-Elect visited Prague on the official invitation of Czech Senate Speaker.
- It was publicly reported that Military Attache of Chinese Embassy in Prague was surveilling her motorcade, got stopped by Czech Police detail as his driving was aggressive inside Prague roads.
Today, new details emerge, reported by Czech Public Radio based on information from Czech Military Intelligence Agency:
- this intelligence operation against then Taiwanese Vice President-Elect was led by Military Section of the Chinese Embassy in Prague, then staffed with three PLA officers.
- Chinese diplomats waited for Taiwanese Vice President-Elect at the Prague airport as she was arriving.
- Director of Czech Military Intelligence Agency General Petr Bartovský confirmed to Czech Public Radio that „Beijing wanted to scare the Taiwanese Vice-President.“ He says: „We recored effort by Chinese civilian intelligence agency to create conditions for demonstrative kinetic action. But never got past the planning phase. Information was passed to appropriate recipient and adequate countermeasures were taken“ The Chinese plan was to have Chinese Embassy car crash the car with Taiwanese Vice-President in Prague.
- What happened in reality: Chinese Assistant Military Attache drove past red light at a Prague cross road as he was following the motorcade of Taiwanese Vice-President. Her motorcade was protected by Czech Police detail and she was never in real danger.
