House of 200 Demons: The True Story Behind “The Deliverance”
Gary, Indiana is a city of sixty-eight thousand residents located less than an hour from Chicago. Once known as the hometown of Michael Jackson and his siblings, in time, the area would play host to a spectacle most locals would prefer to forget. The bizarre events that would haunt a community for over a decade began innocently enough when a young family moved into a dwelling that would come to be known as the ‘Demon House.’
The nightmare was set in motion in November of 2011 when Latoya Ammons and her three young children moved into a rental house on Carolina Street. The family first suspected that something wasn’t right when they found themselves being set upon by swarms of black flies as they were attempting to unpack their belongings.
The family employed numerous methods in their attempts to exterminate the pests, but nothing proved effective. Despite their best efforts, it seemed that no matter what weapons they utilized, rather than dying off as they had hoped, the flies had thrived on the poisons and traps, multiplying at an alarming rate.
