Yes, Republicans in the 1800s were the anti-slavery party. That was when Lincoln was president and the GOP wasn’t hijacked by white grievance politics. You’re not wrong about the past, you just stopped reading history after 1865. Here’s what you missed. The parties swapped platforms over the 20th century. Democrats started shedding their racist base after the New Deal and especially after civil rights legislation in the 1960s. That’s when Republicans launched the Southern Strategy, courting the same racist voting blocs the Democrats were pushing out. So no, today’s GOP is not the party of Lincoln. It’s the party of Trump, book bans, forced birth, voter suppression, and openly talking about “states’ rights” the same way segregationists did. You all don’t hate Democrats for slavery. You hate them for ending your version of power. But thanks for the history lesson. Next time finish the book.

Isn't it funny that Republicans played a major role in ending slavery and in women's suffrage, and now Dems want to act like they were always the good guys by getting whites to hate themselves?
