Just figured out that Joseph Neumeyer’s company “imladris . ai” aka Atlas Light Company is named after the Elvish word for Rivendell from Lord of the Rings lol. Dude was aspiring to be the next Thiel, Karp, or Luckey with an LotR-inspired DoD contracting corporation lol

Neumeyer has degrees in Philosophy of Math/Sciences & Int’l Biz Mgmt and was a Uni of Denver honors student. His Co’s website claims their head of R&D is Akihiro Mochizuki—an expert in photonics, liquid crystals, & organic material sensors w/ over 100 patents in defense & consumer tech.

One conference paper that Mochizuki co-authored in ‘95 describes a wrist-mounted laser rangefinder that he and a team of Japanese scientists designed and which can be affixed to a robot lol Mochizuki moved to Boulder, Colorado () from Japan in ‘98 to work for a liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) device dev firm, before founding a startup in 2003 focusing on IP development and licensing. He seems to still live in CO, where he works as a technical consultant.

Neumeyer’s claim that he studied at DU, the reports that he’s a Colorado native, and Mochizuki’s residence in Boulder means it’s possible the Japanese inventor actually knew and was working w/ Neumeyer on his supposed & highly technical photonics, carbon financing, etc enterprise
