If the federal government and Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security are so concerned about ICE agents having their personal information exposed, then maybe it’s time to stop picking and choosing who deserves privacy. Pass a real federal law that bans doxxing for everyone. Make it illegal to post or share anyone’s private data without consent. That’s how you protect people, not just the ones in uniform.
But let’s be honest. If privacy is really the issue, then you need to crack down on the corporations that farm our data. Go after the data brokers. Rein in the companies that sell our addresses, phone numbers, and financial info. Start with your own house. The USPS literally sells forwarding data to third-party vendors. If you want to shield “patriots” from exposure, start by cutting off the pipeline that feeds all this information into the hands of marketers and scammers.
And stop letting federal agents hide behind masks and refuse to identify themselves. This country is reaching a boiling point. People are tired of unidentified men in tactical gear dragging people into unmarked vehicles. Eventually, someone is going to assume the worst. When you make it impossible to tell the difference between a real agent and some unhinged guy in a fake vest from eBay, you’re asking for chaos.
