New York: The involvement of a Malayali and Norwegian citizen, Renson Jose, is being investigated in connection with the pager explosion that occurred in Lebanon on Tuesday. Renson Jose is reported to be the owner of Bulgarian shell company Norta Global Limited. He originally belonged to Mananthavady in Wayanad and last visited his hometown in 2013.
At the same time, the Daily Mail reported that Renson Jose was unaware of any conspiracy involving explosive materials placed in the pagers or of any intermediary working with Israeli intelligence organisations.
The pagers that exploded were manufactured by the Hungarian paper company BSC Consulting, using the trademark of the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo. The New York Times also reported that BSC is an Israeli shell company.
However, the Hungarian media reported that BSC is merely a paper company and that Renson Jose acquired the Hezbollah pagers through Norta Global. Renson Jose’s disappearance following the explosion in Lebanon has raised suspicion.
In response to the allegations regarding the involvement of Norta Global in the incident, Bulgarian authorities have announced an investigation.
According to Hungarian media outlet Telex, BSC Consulting reportedly has no actual operations and does not even have an office.
Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, the managing director of BSC, was reportedly involved in dealings related to Norta Global. Although BSC signed paperwork with Gold Apollo, the Hungarian media claimed that Norta Global was behind it. They also stated that Norta Global was responsible for bringing the pagers from Taiwan and handing them over to Hezbollah.
