Update on PLA Joint Combat Readiness Patrols Around Taiwan

Three Observations:
(1) The Joint Combat Readiness Patrol on June 10 marked the 22nd occurrence this year, compared to 18 during the same period last year.
(2) The average number of sorties detected per patrol this year is approximately 46, up from 42 sorties over the same timeframe in 2024. However, the average number of vessels involved remains consistent at 8.6 for both 2024 and 2025.
(3) In June 2024, there were three patrols, two of which transited the Bashi Channel. By contrast, the two patrols conducted in June 2025 have so far operated exclusively west of Taiwan.
