Chapter Text
“I could use your help with something. Could you come over later?”
Those words echoed through Penny’s mind, again and again. She couldn’t believe it, even standing outside of the haunted mansion that Ashley lived in. She knew she liked girls, she had known that for a while. Everyone at school knew her as the weird girl who spent her free time alone in her room watching anime. Of course that wasn’t entirely true… she spent plenty of time inventing and practicing singing.
But still, a lot of it was spent watching anime… only the ones with cute girls of course. The thought that stuff like that was all that interested her, eventually it got her thinking… She's a little gay, isn’t she?
Well, now she knows it’s more than a little. And Ashley… oh she’s become completely enamored by her. So cool, so mysterious… so cute. Exactly her type. It’s a…
It’s a shame she probably doesn’t like Penny back. Ashley wouldn’t be interested in romance. Too busy with her spells and potions. That was another thing Penny loved about her, so dedicated to her craft. She probably doesn’t get distracted thinking about anime, or things she could make far off in the future, or… Ashley.
Penny is aware she has a problem. Hopefully it’ll pass, if not… Hopefully the rejection won’t be that bad.
Penny breathes in, opens the door, and walks in.
“ASHLEY!!!!” Penny yelled out, expecting her to be in her potion room, mixing away.
“...I’m right here.” Penny’s nerves spiked as she heard Ashley’s voice right behind her. “A-Ah… Sorry…” She turned around, expecting Ashley to be doing the weird white hair thing she does when angry. God that would be the best…
…Does her face look… soft? Penny isn’t imagining it right? It’s so pleasant to look at… more than usual, anyway. “...It’s fine. Did you bring it?” Ashley said. Penny pulled a small tin out of her bag, full of a plant growth formula Ashley had requested. Come to think of it… it was a little weird Ashley specifically requested Penny make and deliver it. Surely it would’ve been easier to have it delivered by mail…
…Penny didn’t have a response to that. It was weird, the good kind of weird though. The two walked upstairs, Penny smelling an extremely pleasant, floral scent. As she walked into the potion making room…
Flowers. Flowers everywhere. Penny could barely move without brushing against one. Ashley didn’t seem bothered by it though… Was this a recent thing? It was really weird seeing Ashley surrounded by so much… life.
Again, good kind of weird.
Penny handed Ashley the growth formula, Ashley said a quick “Thanks.” before bringing it over to her cauldron at the end of the room. She was sure Ashley knew how sensitive the mixture was, she’d only be adding…
Penny looked on in horror as Ashley dumped the entire thing in, vines erupted from the cauldron, for the first time Penny could see shock on Ashley’s face. Penny braced as vines rushed towards her and…
Ashley felt herself immobilized, vines taking hold of her limbs, as Ashley ran over. Ashley looked… worried. “O-Oh… I added too much… let me… uh…”
Seemingly not knowing what to do, Ashley tried to get the vines off of Penny, pulling at them to no avail. Penny couldn’t focus on that though…
Ashley was inches away from her face. Penny felt her face redden, she had never been this close and…
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry… let me…”
Ashley stopped, staring into Penny’s eyes for a brief moment.
“Mmf-!”
A kiss. On the lips. Penny felt like she was about to scream. Her face was as red as she could possibly imagine it being. Ashley looked embarrassed, Penny didn’t think Ashley could blush, but…
She was as red as a tomato. “I… I don’t know… I don’t know why I did that, it just felt like… I just wanted… You just looked… I’m sorry…”
Penny smiled. “It was… it was a little weird.” Ashley’s face dropped. “...But… Good kind of weird. I liked it.” Ashley stared at Penny for a moment.
“...Can I…?” Ashley leaned in again. “...Please do.”
Their lips met again. Penny was very wrong about Ashley, and that was weird.
But once again, the good kind of weird.
