Thank you for several years with no crashes.

Post by HyperBear »

I have been running Linux Mint for several years and had a largely positive experience. I have not abandoned Windows, but Linux Mint is currently my "daily driver".

There are few things here and there that I miss from Windows such as UDF 2.50 and 2.60 writing support and Explorer's integrated multimedia columns (for example video width, framerate, duration) and searching operators (< = > ≤ ≥), but the one thing I can't remember having experienced on Linux Mint is a kernel panic (Linux equivalent to BSOD).

I forgot about the possibility of crashes and took it for granted and forgot to say thanks for it until now.

Angry German Kid wanted a computer with no crashes so much. Well, he should've tried out Linux Mint. ;-)

For clarity, I had the OS hang up when testing on a 2 GB RAM netbook and when an external SSD it ran from disconnected due to a loose contact, but that doesn't really count because it is not the fault of the OS.

Media columns

Post by HyperBear »

By the way, I only recently found out media columns in Nemo are a thing!

It can show basic stuff like resolution and duration and some EXIF data, which is very useful. While it can't yet search for multimedia metadata, it's good progress. :D .
