Missions

Missions are tasks formatted as a "tree", with each completed task allowing the completion of another task in addition to a reward. There are many generic missions available to all nations, with others being available depending upon nation, culture, religion, or region.

Missions are assigned whenever certain triggers happen, usually when starting the game or forming another nation. Whenever such a trigger happens the game checks the files for all missions the nations currently fulfills the conditions for and makes them available in the missions tab.

Furthermore, Mission trees in the files are seperated into multiple sections, with every section occupying a dedicated slot in the mission tree (divided in rows and columns and assigend via coordinates with x being rows and y being columns). Each section may have its own conditions to be available to a nation. Thus a single nation may have missions from multiple files and not always all missions from a single file.

If a nation qualifies for multiple sections that apply the same slot in the tree, the missions take priority equal to their order (alphabetical) in the files. Missions that are lower down have higher priority and will replace missions from further up. This is why "generic missions" are called "00_Generic_missions" in the files; they will always be at the very top and can thus even be replaced by other generic missions.

Broad overview over the mission density in 1444 - the darker the red, the more missions the nation has access to from the start.
Note that a few nations start with a very short tree that is supposed to speed them towards forming another nation, upon which they get a much more extensive tree. This affects the Maya nations, Cuzco, Ardabil, the Dutch nations and the Jurchen tribes. Thus they appear extremely light on the map, while in actuality quickly getting access to some of the biggest trees in the game.

Non- specific missions[edit | edit source]

By default if nothing else applies, nations get access to the generic missions. These tables list all the different sections from all files, as long as the sections conditions arent related to tags.

Generic missions[edit | edit source]

For Trees that have the "generic = yes" tag. They will be replaced by any other applicable missions that occupy the same slot.
