It wasn’t even a Mets home run that fired up Brandon Nimmo.

On Tuesday, Nimmo watched Washington’s CJ Abrams take a low-and-away fastball from Griffin Canning and lift it the opposite way. Playing left, Nimmo ranged back — and back and back — and then leapt at the wall, a couple feet too short to rob what became a fifth-inning home run.
