Originally intended as a shiprepair facility, a decade later Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard (HVS) moved into shipbuilding when it started constructing simple bulkers.

Today, with 46 newbuildings delivered and an expanded product range that includes chemical tankers, the yard is busier than ever.

At the end of July, HVS handed over the 49,000-dwt chemical/products tanker Polaris to Singaporean owner Wilmar International. The sophisticated vessel was the first in a series of six that Wilmar had ordered at the yard.
