introduce
LookAway is a smart rest reminder app designed to reduce eye strain, visual syndrome (CVS) and digital fatigue caused by prolonged screen use, while also improving productivity. The app runs silently after launch, promoting eye health without interrupting the user's workflow by monitoring the user's working hours and automatically putting the Mac into rest mode when the preset focus time is reached. In rest mode, LookAway slightly blurs the Mac screen to help relax the eyes and play a soft tone at the end of the break. The app is based on the 20-20-20 rule to reduce eye strain and fatigue by periodically (user-definable) putting your Mac into rest mode. It offers short and long break options, as well as gentle reminders before the break, ensuring that users can get their work done without interrupting their workflow. LookAway is easy to configure and perfectly adjusts the rest interval and duration to the user's workflow. LookAway also has smart features like pausing or resetting the timer when the user is idle, automatically detecting that the user is in a call or meeting and snoozing reminders, and not interrupting while watching a video. It also supports work schedule settings to suggest breaks only during the user's working hours, provides a wide range of keyboard shortcuts to quickly start, skip or delay breaks, includes a menu bar icon for easy access to quick settings, and the ability to seamlessly manage multiple screens. LookAway also features a native design that seamlessly integrates with Mac OS and helps users refocus by playing a soft chime to remind users that their break is over.
