We have reached the third and final part of our article series on the new teams joining the EuroLeague next season.

With the expansion to 20 teams, which is only awaiting formal announcement, the competition will become even tougher and more competitive, especially since the three new entries all have high ambitions.

After discussing Dubai Basketball in the previous episode, we will now focus on Hapoel Tel Aviv, another newcomer to the competition.

After winning the EuroCup, the team coached by Dimitris Itoudis wants to be in the best possible shape for next season and be one of the most dangerous teams to face right from the start.

The team's owner, Ofer Yannay, has never hidden his ambitions and desire to transform Hapoel Tel Aviv into one of the strongest teams in Europe.

So, the Israeli club is preparing for a summer of heavy investment in the transfer market to make the roster even more competitive.

Of course, there's still the significant challenge of home games, which will almost certainly continue to be played outside of Israel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

But that hasn't lessened Hapoel's ambition to enter the competition as a team aiming to join the elite from day one.

What changes could we see in Hapoel's roster this summer? Which players are likely to stay? And more generally, what is the club's mission for the near future?

Let's find out together.

Potential additions and ambitions

Hapoel wants to be immediately competitive in their first EuroLeague season, which is why the Israeli club is tracking high-level players.

Two players who seem to be one step away from Hapoel Tel Aviv ahead of next season are

Bahcesehir Istanbul big man Tai Odiase is expected to move to the EuroLeague this summer, sources tell BasketNews.

Odiase, 29, has the contract with the Turkish club through the 2025–26 season, but the deal includes a buyout clause that is widely expected to be exercised.

According to sources, multiple EuroLeague teams have expressed interest in acquiring the Nigerian center.

The 2.06m Odiase was one of the standout interior presences in the EuroCup last season.

He averaged 12.7 points on 62% shooting inside the arc, along with 5.2 rebounds, 0.9 blocks, and a 15.5 Performance Index Rating (PIR) across the 2024–25 campaign.

He finished top five in the EuroCup in offensive rebounds (2.4 per game) and ranked 18th overall in total rebounding. His 0.9 blocks per game also placed him among the top 10 shot blockers in the competition.

Odiase logged nine 20+ PIR performances in 18 EuroCup games, including a dominant outing against Dolomiti Energia Trento, where he posted 24 points, 7 rebounds, and a career-high 29 PIR.

He also delivered a 16-point, 10-rebound, 3-block performance in an overtime win over Buducnost Podgorica.

He finished the season ranked inside the top 15 in EuroCup efficiency.

In domestic play, Odiase added 9.7 points (63.3% 2P), 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game in the Turkish league, finishing seventh overall in blocks.

Over four games against EuroLeague clubs Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes, he averaged 13.5 points, 5.3 rebounds (2.5 offensive), and 1.0 blocks.

With Odiase's frontcourt presence, Bahcesehir reached the semifinals of both the EuroCup and the Turkish league.

Odiase's professional resume includes stints with Lavrio (Greece), Goettingen and EWE Baskets Oldenburg (Germany), Brescia (Italy), Prometey Slobozhanske (Ukraine), Pirates de Quebradillas (Puerto Rico), Metropolitanos de Mauricio Báez (Dominican Republic), and the Greensboro Swarm (NBA G League).
