Not her saying she got kidnapped……. 🤡

Cue the headlines, the outrage, the hashtags. But here’s the kicker: while Greta was busy declaring her dramatic “kidnapping” on a Gaza-bound ship, Israeli civilians are still being held hostage in Gaza — and not a peep from her.

Is this selective activism or just a masterclass in spotlight hogging? Because justice, last I checked, doesn’t come with an asterisk. True activism demands consistency. Justice cannot be selective or convenient. It must speak for all victims, regardless of politics or narrative.

By focusing on her own story and ignoring the suffering of Israeli hostages, and also taking headlines away from Gaza, Greta risks taking away from their pain and the urgency of their situation.

Both. Greta has always centered her own story even when she was a climate activist. Her answer was mainly 'don't do that'. Which isn't an answer and would serve to put a lot of people out of work...not that she'd really notice or care, being from a wealthy family and all.

Of course, her parents encouraged her so they could make money off her too. They did steal her childhood after all.

It's the only way she knows how to be an activist-center herself. Be loud and outrageous. And since she's an adult, its high time for her to learn that she can't be doing that because it actually hurts the cause. Sure, you'll get people falling over themselves over how brave she supposedly was and how rations meant to mostly feed the people on the boat would have saved Gaza, encouraging others to do little about the actual cause other than 'look at me, I'm doing something!'

Meanwhile, orgs like Anera who are actually trying to feed people, get zero credit and ignored. The actual doers.

It was nothing more than a vanity trip for her own ego and more to hurt Israelis than help Palestinians.

This.

With the flotilla, either she is stupid or only cares about publicity.

Because there is no way she is smart and thought she would get into Gaza. Not after the last flotilla in the 2000's which tried to go to Gaza.

If you enter a blockade, under maritime law, you are treated as a military target. Blockades are legal as long as they are done correctly. If she did know this, publicity stunt. If she didn't, she's a dumb cunt

And it's sad that people are putting her as this face of the movement.

Because if she is stupid, why do you want someone stupid as the face of your movement? And if it was a publicity stunt, why would you want someone who cares more about publicity than actually helping Palestinians as the face of the movement?

She was given the option to drop the aid off in Israel to be delivered. She was warned that she could not enter. Yet she decided to go ahead.

She was given food and water upon being removed. That's a lot better than the treatment of actual hostages stuck in Gaza.

I will not deny that it is probably very scary and traumatic to have military members take your ship. Even though it was self-inflicted, it is still probably scary. I hope that her parents do fund her therapy so she can work through that and all her other issues. That being said, whilst I do have empathy, I do not have sympathy for her. You cannot fuck around after being told the consequences, and be upset at the consequences. It's not bravery, it's stupidity.

Small correction (by a friend in the navy): while a blockade is legal in a state of war, the ship isn't in any way a "valid military target" since it's still clearly a civilian ship without arms. Israel has the right to stop it, search it, maybe seize it, but it's not a valid military target. But it cannot be fired upon; that would be disproportionate force.
