This is actually a brilliant strategy. I understand the immigration situation is cruel and unjust, but this hits the point hard.
When you’re protesting, you need to understand optics. Waving only foreign flags like the Mexican or Palestinian flag gives them a narrative to weaponize. They take those images and twist them to paint you as “the other.” But if you wave the American flag alongside it, you confuse them. You throw a wrench into their propaganda machine. You remind them you’re not an outsider. You’re part of this country too. And that drives them insane.
This person is absolutely right. If you’re insistent on flying foreign flags, fine. But you better be flying the American flag too. Otherwise, you’re just helping them shape the story they want to tell. You need to make it harder for fascists to take control of the narrative.
And if you don’t get that, if you’re out there waving flags without thinking about the message it sends, then you’re a fucking idiot. Protest smarter. Hurt them where it counts. Confuse them. Corner them. Leave them with nothing to say.
